Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

https://voice.google.com/u/0/settings#voicemail
Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

Nope. Another poster said as long as the phone is activated, the phone should be unlocked in 180 days. There is no need to logon to your account because by default, autopay is off. Metro won't be charging you next month.

Are you sure you can get inbound calls?
Some people still can't receive inbound calls or texts.
I checked a few of ShannonF4392's earlier messages and I don't think they were porting in a GV number. From what I've been reading this thread so far, only those of us who are porting in a GV number are unable to receive inbound calls and texts (other than OTP). Some activations were initiated over a week ago!

Any thoughts on Motorola razr 3? Looks like a good deal for $139. I currently have iPhone 15Pm and willing to get this as my secondary phone

Yes, this is correct. I was porting from the US Mobile free trial so did not have any of the GV issues. I think the port went through right when I clicked the activate button the day the phone shipped.

And thanks for the response echip -- I was thinking of ordering a second phone which is why I wanted to get into the account.

Tried ordering Nord N30 as part of the port in promotion. Order failed then called customer service, and apparently, account was created with Metro for my Phone#, but for another order now phone no is shown as ineligible.
Tried reaching out metro sales, customer service and porting department many times. All are useless and provided no definitive answers and just ask to call back in 24 or 72 hours. My phone # is stuck in limbo and I don't know what to do without a phone.

Lot of people stuck in this situation and metro is losing their business too. Why was an account created when the order has failed and port in has been cancelled? Why aren't sales reps empowered to order devices on customers behalf?

So for those of us who don't plan to keep the service, would a half way port eventually fail and the number stays put in google voice? That's a win if so.

Exactly that was good. I was transferred to port department as well. regular reps can't do that.

Can you run your number through the website below to see if it shows up as Metro PCS? Google had me do this, and my ported number showed up as bandwidth.com, which means it's still recognized as GV number, not Metro. Google said this meant that Metro PCS failed to take the final step to notify the porting administrator that the port was done.

If you don't pay for the 2nd month, Metro will suspend your line on Day 31 and close the account on Day 61. I don't think you can port out the phone number of a suspended line. There are posts from people who said they ported out BEFORE Day 30 and their phone was still unlocked after Day 180.
