Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...

Hi, after port in is successful , do we need to cancel the line? To avoid any further charges or just leave it without recharge?

Autopay is turned off by default and the initial credit card you used to pay for the phone isn't saved so you can just let the line sit until they cancel it for you.

So Refundroid, did you get a refund? Maybe we should all wait till a couple of days before the bill due date, calling to request a refund (to save more on the device) or a bill credit (to extend the service for the second month).
I opened a case with BBB, waiting for Metro to respond. I had a fishy conversation with Metro when I tried to work it out with them directly. They said their department didn't issue any kind of refund or credit, so I asked them to transfer me to their billing department. Then, they said "we don't have a billing department." Yea, right...

I doubt that you'll get any refund from Metro for the poor SERVICE. Their policy https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/s...urn-policy says "There are no returns, refunds, or credits for prepaid service fees, monthly service, application download, add-ons and other fees". At most, they might offer you some free service days to make up for the days when your phone couldn't receive incoming calls/texts.

It depends. An iPhone is unlocked when its IMEI is added to an Apple database by the provider (Metro, AT&T, Verizon, etc). A Metro Android phone needs to be turned on and connected to WiFi after 180 days, then use the Network Unlock function in Settings to get it unlocked by Metro. I don't know whether or not Metro cares which WiFi IP location the phone is using for the unlocking.

I seem to have run into some sort of block on my street address. From 3/4/ to 3/8, I've ordered an i12 and an i11 in Account #1 (daughter's name) and an i11 in Acct #2 (wife's name). Didn't have any problems nor ID questions on those orders. But after that, all new Add-A-Line orders failed. I've tried different browsers on my PC, with and without incognito mode, tried ordering using Data on different phones on Metro and other carriers, different credit cards. None worked. I gave up.
I agree, the ban is likely on the shipping address. I can't even place new order using my current address, let alone add new lines. I tested different name, cc and port-in numbers, none works. Eventually, I tried to use my work address, and it easily got through.

Yea, policies or terms don't apply when a business breaches a contract. That's the whole point of resources like FTC and BBB. Don't ever let business fool you to think that you have no recourse.

What are you talking about? It has nothing to do with this deal. It's about their failure to port my number for weeks, not providing the service I paid for. No one is opening a case for discounted phone deal. Relax.

I've filed complaints with the FCC when Tracfone failed to honor their Rewards deals. So I know the complaint process works. Please let us know the outcome of your complaints. I'm curious to see if Metro will offer you monetary refund or service days or nothing.

Relax to enjoy the deal.
We all know GV number port-in is tough...Make call to them to request a new phone number assigned for free...
Take easy to enjoy the deal!
Wish you have enjoyable day!

It never failed me!

To recapture the glorious Crimsonhill804 trick, here's the steps.

1) Make sure all existing orders are activated.
2) On the first device (iPhone 12 in my case), download Google Chrome (I didn't try Safari).
3) Turn off Wi-Fi and use the Metro cellular instead.
4) Login to your account on Chrome.
5) Do you see if all your lines are active? If so, you should see the add a line option. Click on "add a line" and proceed to complete your order as before. Otherwise, stop! It won't work if you navigate directly to the "Phones & devices" section. Something is wrong with your account and I have no idea what it is!

Good luck!
How many lines do you have on your account? I have successfully ordered 3 and wondering if I should keep trying.
