Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

Yeah wait for 5-6 hours.

Next time, login using your metro mobile device (line 1 in your case) to order. If possible, use Chrome and metro internet (turn off wifi).

In fact, login to your account right now using a metro device (line 1) and see if the add line option is available. I think once the temporary hold is gone, you should see the add line option.
Well, the add a line button is back now. The first screen says the number is available to transfer, it accepts the account number and PIN, but after putting in the credit card, it fails. I think it's failing now because Tracfone shows the number as inactive. I guess I can try contacting Tracfone's porting department but that may be more effort than I want to put into this.

If you got the screen below that says "Congratulations! Your number was reserved" which came before you entered your cc info, but the order fails with "Please call us to complete the order" then it's NOT because of porting. It failed because Metro now blocks you from ordering more phones to the same shipping address. That happened to me after 3 phones (in 2 accounts) shipped to my house within a week. Someone else had that problem, switched to using his work address and the order went through.

No, it was a different error message, saying the account info was incorrect and to go back and fix it. Meanwhile Tracfone sent the text that the number was being transferred, at 6:55pm last night and 4:37am this morning. When I requested a new NTP at 8am to try again, Tracfone responds with: We do not have any record in our system with your information.

And this will just be my second phone ever from Metro.

Go with GV number. It will cost you $3 and available to port right away.

Just make sure you unlock GV number and set your PIN before you go to metro website.

Does the porting have to be successful before cancelling/renewing the service.

I don't have to care for the number but want to make sure the phone is unlocked after 180 days if the porting is not successful.

If it is GV-related, then call the number from WiKi. You will be done in 10-15 min and get peace of mind.

this number can't be transferred..😳 any idea how to fix this?

Yeah, you made a mess.

Now wait for 5–6 hours before you try another attempt (make sure to set PIN). If you're adding a second line, just check the message to the Shannonxxx user for additional steps.

Otherwise, for the first line, wait for 6-7 hours and try again (chrome browser).

Has it been 4-6 hrs after the failure when you tried again and got the "can't be transferred" message?

Wait 4-6 hrs for Metro to release the number after each failure.

Yes, I had same experience and many posters (you're welcome to read 133 pages Smilie

As mentioned earlier wait for 6-7 hours (to be safe) and try again. But nothing is guaranteed when it comes to metro website.

I've read that some who've ported their number back out before the 30 days of service had problems with the device unlocking. Perhaps OP cgigate could ring in here. They seem to suggest to get a pin for porting which you can do on the website then port out from days 31-40. I plan on porting 2 numbers back to GV because they are too good to let go.(Sequential prefix and repeating digits for last 4)
Does anyone know if the port out pin ever expires? I am just to get the pin while the phone still active & save it in case for future port out.

Ah, that tablet (Samsung A7 lite) is not slow at all.

My posters (including me) gave information on how to make it faster (I know it won't become Apple iPad speed).
