Starting February 29, 2024, Metro by T-Mobile introduces the online "Bring your number" (port-in) option. People no longer needs to go to the store to get scammed for keeping their phone numbers to enjoy the deep discount. You can choose a $40 plan in most cases (even though it may say a $60 plan ($65 with autopay) is required). If you buy a phone with a new number, you need to choose the $60 plan. The free phone check-out price is $65 for the OnePlus N30, Moto Stylus 5G 2023, etc.

There are three purchase options.
- "Bring your number" (port-in): You can choose $40 plan or $60 plan, many free phones, the checkout price is $40 or $65. iPhone needs $60 plan to get discount. For iPhone , you need chose $60 plan to be able to have discount price!
- New number , you can only choose $60 plan ($65 with autopay) , many free phones, the checkout price is $65
- Existing user can add one line for $40 plan , the total checkout price would be $40 , for free phone
You can activate the phone before or after receiving it. If you don't activate the phone, the system will automatically activate it on day 21 after it is shipped. You should receive an email from "T-Mobile US" with the subject "Your phone is now active" to give you details about your phone, phone number, etc.

180 days after activation, your phone will be eligible to unlock! you don't need keep the service for 180 days, once your phone got activated one time, after 180 days, your phone is eligible to unlock!
Unlock eligibility requirements

- One hundred eighty (180) days must have passed since the device's activation date.
Any other information about unlocking is fake or scam!
Do not waste your money to get third party unlocking service ! it won't work.
The MOTO Stylus 5G 2023 has *6* GB RAM, not 4gb, per the Metro website. And assuming its the same phone that shipped last time, it has eSIM support as well....
Also, Metro By T-mobile also has the T Life benefit, which means you can redeem 1 year of MLB.TV for free if your line is still active on 3/26/2024.

look these metro deals have been around for 10 + years.
no one abusing anything.
all following the "terms " set by metro itself.

All I said was that Metro would catch this and change the unlocking policy, i.e., change the price of the phone or something else.
I didn't predict (not that I am God) that they would change it to 365 days. Also, I am not the only one who said it, but a few others as well before me.

Called customer support and the rep was pretty much useless. He said nothing he can do and told me to wait for the order to arrive and return it through UPS. I escalated to the Supervisor/Manager and she will submit an order support ticket to help cancel the order. Wasted half an hour on the phone.

I don't care, to be honest, how many you or anyone else bought and sold. All I am saying is that the game is over for someone who is in the flipping business, i.e., someone who posted in the A54 thread that he bought 10 or 15 A54 and is selling them on Facebook, CL, or any other platform. I am sure you're not a serial flipper, but try something and sell once the novelty factor is over and move on.

T-Mobile wants X number of users joining from competitors to report to the analysts / shareholders, and this is an easy way to pad those numbers. T-Mobile is getting incentives from the manufacturers to move a certain number of handsets, and this is an easy way to do that. T-Mobile needs a certain number of people jumping on a higher priced, $65 plan? Offer 3-4 year old iPhones at a steep discount with that plan only. Manufacturers need to see the number of handsets they are moving going up so that they can report higher sales / market share to analysts and shareholders? Guess what? This is an easy way to do that
When T-Mobile does not want a bunch of S23 FEs go for a quarter of MSRP, they don't sell it online for months. If they want to slow down these purchases, they extend the unlock period.
It's got to be pretty obvious that T-Mobile does not mind the fact that these deals exist, otherwise they'd set a service requirement and nobody who does not want to stick with Metro / T-Mobile would buy these phones.
Do I need to remove it from some account or something?
What about stuff that's sealed beyond the return period, like one of those ole TCL tablets?
