ATT return policy says, if you cancel with 3 days to waive the activation and 14 days to cancel the line. pick up in store to avoid activation fee. if you want to do the deal online you can get a Google voice/tello number and port it over. otherwise you can get a new number in store.

same tried with mine and wife SSN..doesn't work
but I got the att account email with 4 digit account number..WTF but no BB order checkout confirmation

Technically you can cancel your line as soon as it ships. The phone and the SIM comes separate. I'd wait till the phone arrives but either way should be fine.

Same here, email from att showing last 4 digits of account number. Can this be because I might have had an account with att in the past?

This is complicated by both BB and ATT system involvent in the process. Have you checked ATT.com/portstatus

I'd say adding a new line on an existing account should work if you have access to one.

People have reported calling BB and then ATT to resolve account creation/porting issues before so that might be worth a try tomorrow

So it didn't go to the porting step. Seems like some issue with credit check then. May be call BB to place the order tomorrow
