1. I don't think so but I'm not sure. They might reserve it for you.

2. You have to go to store to get the new number. For an existing ATT account or porting a number to att you can get it shipped

My order got delayed.BB chat representative says below.Unbelievable!!

I have just reviewed your order details, and I can see that this order has failed to activate the plan. That's the reason it getting delayed. In this case, I kindly request that you contact the carrier and try to activate it. You'll get the order pick-up confirmation by the end of the day or before 8:00PM.

For anyone in the thread, how long did it take for the cancellation activation come in and no longer show on your account? The rep stated it is cancelled.

Nope, the phone is unlocked and sealed for you to use with whatever carrier you want.

Yes, you need to unlock GV for porting but read the post above where people have not done it. You will need to create the account for being able to do a clean cancellation

My full report. Saw thread late last night.

Went to Best Buy 10:20 a.m. no appointment. Asked to purchase with new ATT number.

Finished 10:35 or so. Nothing paid, did have to give SSN email drivers license etc.

10:45 email from ATT Online Services to finish setup

3 pm setup account from email link
3:05 chat to cancel. 5 minutes wait to start, lot of waiting between attempts to upsell or transfer etc. Cancelled 3:32 pm. Phone box still unopened.

edit: I also see an account close email came from ATT immediately after.

That's it?
The line is activated when the ATT account is created by BB. You don't need to activate any phone on that line for you to cancel the line

Had the most horrible experience at BB with a very rude lady

You don't have an appointment
You are technically late (I waited 5 mins for someone to service me)
I'm very busy and since you are late you have to wait
There was 0 line
Then she tries to help me in 2 mins
This is a frequently returned phone
I cannot sell you a phone that you will give to your minor
Why didnt you buy online
Asks me the model number five different times
I don't have it in stock
You can check
OK let's proceed with the application (so she has it in stock. Liar)
Price is 250
Online and in store price are different

I walk out of the store with no phone.

Just shocked at the incompetency. I was planning to talk to her manager but I did not have the strength after fighting with her for 10 mins. Just horrible experience
