No they can't. You are also not putting ATT SIM in it. BB is just selling you the phone with a phone plan, once you are out of the store they don't care. ATT can flag you but that's unlikely.

If you are being asked passcode for cancelling the account and you don't have one and also you can't set one as the 2 factor phone number is not active going to an ATT store is the best course of action. They can send the code to an email and you can cancel the account there.

I successfully ordered online today 3/2 with expected delivery date of 3/5 after going to store and denied on my application, so I am trying to figure out if cancelling when I receive the phone on 3/5 will count as cancelling within 3 days of service, or will that technically be the 4th day, or I should cancel after I receive the shipping confirmation between now and 3/4. I already got an AT&T account number FWIW. Perthis [att.com], somebody on AT&T form says they start bill you when the phone is shipped when you order directly from AT&T.

I selected an appt tomorrow.
That said, I didn't go through the usual purchasing process till click the button "Complete / Place The Order".
Q:
1. Does it mean I have "RESERVED" the phone (so it's the normal procedure to buy online and pick in store)? Since there's only 1 left in that BBY store so I don't want to assume but like to confirm.
2. What's the point to pick up in store? If I select "Ship to Home", what will I lose? Seems the activation fee will be waived anyway if immediately cancel the plan?

The main advantage of picking up in store (if the phone is available for pickup right away, not ship to store) is to start the 3-day clock right away so you cancel service with AT&T right away, as it seems, per what OP said above and corroborated by someone at AT&T forum , your service starts as soon as the phone is shipped

For process #1 (you) during the whole steps, does the Metro Mobile # have to be ACTIVE (since mine had expired) to receive any SMS / call to complete the setup or activation / deactivation?
