I bought one a few months back for a bit more
Recently tried it out. It is indeed pretty awesome.
I was even put to shame when someone decades younger than me was chopping wood, as they had no electric or gas heater in their house, and they were in their late 80s. Some people may not have the overall strength for repeated cuts (this couple lived in the woods) and this might have been great for them...although they probably would have said they did not need it.
I also know people who drive into their 90s and I personally wish they would take an Uber or Taxi and not drive... but they say don't be ridiculous ... they have been driving for years.
There are also people who love to garden and now have arthritis, but still like to get out and work the yard and this could be a help.
There are lots of reasons for this.
The same could be said for battery/electric hedge trimmers. Who really needs them, but give someone with 5+ acres and lots of bushes, that could be a life saver!

But even for me, sometimes a set of traditional pruners can't really get in to a shrub at the right angle, so these are justified for anyone. That you don't realize this just makes me think you probably don't do much pruning; different tools for different situation is never a bad idea. I'm also calling bs that you are all for power tools when needed because you clearly are not.
Minimum cycle time between cuts is 1-2 seconds, which is fine in practice. The unit is considerably more forgiving than hand pruners of off-axis cuts. A 3ah battery lasts 3-4 hours. I don't know if it's the motor brushes or not, but I would hit a trigger "dead spot" every 200 cuts or so, and I'd keep pressing the trigger for a few seconds for it to get over itself; it's A little irksome on a otherwise fine tool. Definitely am keeping this.
I would be in the market for the electric pole pruner analog to this....my cleared areas now have vine pieces that resume about 7 feet off the ground....

Agree. The movies always utilize a cigar cutter, but as we know in real life, that's pretty tough sledding.
Work cuts up to 1". The DeWalt does up to 1-1/2" which is a huge difference so I would definitely go with the DeWalt.

Dewalt's own warranty dept is pretty great too though. I have their 12" 20v chainsaw which start acting up that I've had for 2 years. I just called Dewalt's warranty dept and before I knew it they said they were shipping me a new saw, and never even asked for a receipt, only the serial number. Arrived in less than a week.
I've got this tool as well and it is phenomenal if you do a lot of trimming. I've been maintaining a couple acres of wooded trails and this thing has saved so much time and wrist ache. I can use a 2AH battery for about all day. Just keep your fingers clear.
I do wish they made an option to attach this to a 2-3 foot pole for a little extra reach.

Well then I guess I must be lazy for using this while creating and maintaining several miles of wooded trails.
And my 78 year old neighbor with arthritis in her hands who is outside working her 75 acres every single day must also be lazy because she uses these.
Everything is relative and just because you don't need it in your apartment doesn't mean other people don't have a good use for it. Have a better attitude and lift people up instead of assuming things and putting people down.
Wrong concerning price!!
Pretty much a moot point on this tool. I use this tool all day on a single 2AH battery with no problem so battery life isn't an issue. And if you wear out the brushes on this tool, I'd be impressed. It's not a tool that runs constantly that would put a lot of heat and wear on the brushes. Plus this Dewalt handles 1½" branches vs. the Worx's 1". Also Dewalt's battery platform is widely used by so many people so they wouldn't have to purchase an additional battery and charger.
So I fail to see how Worx is better.

I did see in Home Depot last week that they carry a Ryobi 18v pruner with a 2-3' handle. I would love to have a short extension of just that size for the DeWalt. I have the Dewalt pole saw but it doesn't do as well for trimming small branches and doesn't go shorter than about 8' which makes it awkward for lower branches.
