Aaaahhhh just found reason:

New process of producing OLEDs without rare earth minerals.

"The new process, in simplest terms, involves replacing those rare minerals with not-so-rare -- and therefore more affordable --- minerals. Diving into the science, the process involves grinding manganese bromide with benzyltriphenylphosphonium bromide. That solution is then dissolved into single MnBz crystals, which are used to create a light-emitting device (the LED part of OLED)."

So likely we see prices continue downward!

How does the return on Amazon work? Do they come pick it up or you physically have to bring it to a drop off location?
I just returned a TV with them in December. You can schedule a pickup through amazon's website. The whole return process took forever though. I assumed the return was lost but after a month Amazon finally credited me the amount minus $50 for return shipping.

Any mount recommendations for the 77"?

Don't need swivel features.

Mounting on bricks so prefer to have a good selection of holes (anchor positions) to mount with.

Plasma was amazing! But OLED is clearly better now that HDR content is readily available at 4k.
True but had it paired with an Oppo and man that PQ was amazing!
TBH only switched because we upgraded to object based codecs once we realized, done properly it was not a gimmick.
Upgrade the other half, bigger screen size and price was way too good to pass up!

Would I be disappointed to still have it, hell no! Would have saved a few tears also!

HDR is good but the quality of the transfer, how well it's tone mapped and quality of the equipment plays a significant role on how good.

it's a "limited time deal", you must have found a dumb rep or will get charged full price in a couple days.

Read the previous responses in the thread. Some people report of placing a new order at this lower price and contacting Amazon to receive the difference as Amazon GC

One of those rare times for me when my procrastination (and sometimes patience that the price will drop) has paid off big. Just placed an order.

Also got the Sonos at 30% off with upgrade credit so now the media room is almost complete.

Bought and setup the Samsung S89C this past Saturday from BestBuy at $1799. Love it and it looks great. Trying to determine if it makes sense at all to return and get this. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't get all the Samsung hate, Samsung has always been really good to me and I have a lot of their stuff.

Retuning such a large TV will be a task but if there's good reason, I'll do it. 😁

yup, they got lucky. I got an agent who wouldn't price match because of the "limited deal".

This is an excellent price.

And the 83" for $3000 after coupon...lowest I have seen for those who want the biggest.
I had bought the 83" from walmart (beach camera) for $3500 a month ago..going to attempt a price match..

Well, sorry a simple web search would have answered my question. I'll sit on what I have. Seems Rtings likes both models nearly that same, not much to be gained by switching. Fits nicely in my Samsung dominant home. For others on the fence in the same situation see Rtings summary below.

Rtings Summary:
The LG C3 OLED and Samsung S89C OLED are similar TVs occupying the same market position. The Samsung is better for gaming and a slightly better overall TV, while the LG is better for movie fans. The Samsung has a wider color gamut and gets brighter than the LG, especially in HDR; not only that, but it also maintains its HDR brightness better in Game Mode. It also supports 4k @ 144Hz, while the LG is limited to 4k @ 120Hz. However, the LG supports DTS audio formats and Dolby Vision, making it great for Blu-ray fans. It also has better low-quality content smoothing than the Samsung TV, making it better for watching streaming content, especially in low-bitrate situations.

I paid more than this ($1900) for my 65" C1 a few years ago. Great deal.
Yeah I bought the 65" C1 right when it came out, I was faced with a discount of the CX but ultimately went C1 and paid $2,400 for it, with about $300 in GCs was the "slickdeal". I cry every time when I see these LG OLED TV's on sale.
