Per Google's website, this model will receive updates until June 2030.

No, it is not. Chromebooks with 10th Gen Intel CPU do not meet the requirements for Chromebook Plus.

Very normal, especially for models built around Core-series CPUs aka performance/P-cores.

As a note for those interested in switching a performance flag on this device, the Hyperthreading functionality will be turned off for security reasons [chromium.org] but can be enabled easily [google.com].

Good luck!
Jon

Yes probably, I have the first gen with the 4k screen that only lasts 4 hours, gets hot, and has grounding issues with touchpad. POS built out of premium materials.
have to respectfully disagree here. this was a rare unicorn, 4k OLED screen, thin and light, i5 processor and came with 8gb/256gb at launch. The biggest problems like you said is the touchpad, it didn't affect all units. And battery issue, there are plenty of usb-c plugs at home.

To echo many in this thread: Anyone buying this should research if this #2 model has touchpad issues like the first generation galaxy #1 model did. "Issues" is an understatement, I should say nightmare. I had to solder copper strips inside the Chromebook to get it partially working again. My first generation has storage issues as well where I have to open the Chromebook and wiggle the hard drive to get it to boot, though this is a much rarer problem than the touchpad nightmare.

To be clear, the problems I'm mentioning are not about the model for sale here, but rather its first edition, which is presumably a very similar build, though I don't have actual experience with it. Just something to consider and research. If my first edition didn't have the touchpad issues and the storage problem - then I would actually recommend it.

I have one of the first gens and I love it except for the trackpad issue. I thought it was just mine. Do you know if there is a way to fix the trackpad issue? A faulty ground sounds like a fixable issue. I have a soldering station and all.

EDIT: I was able to find the fix after a bit of searching. https://imgur.com/a/GDZayv9
Again, as others have said, this is for the first gen of this chromebook, not the one posted by OP (which is the second gen version).

Any chance you took pictures of the repair and are willing to share so I can attempt to repair mine as well? Mine actually fixes itself after a reboot and letting it cool down but if I could fix it permanently I'd be so happy. I didn't realize this was a common problem that maybe others experienced. I have a soldering station and can probably fix it if I know what I am looking for.

Buyer beware, the Galaxy Chromebooks were plagued with intermittent touchpad issues. I had to RMA mine twice before they finally gave me a refund.
I have a samsung chromebook and it has a warning there are no more software updates. That doesn't really bother me as much as it doesn't support my home wifi network. I bought Aruba AP22's and it can't connect.

My son has this Chromebook and uses it daily for school. He gets around 7-9 hours of use before having to charge it. It also charges fairly quickly as well.
that's it? yikes! my MS Surface laptop gets about the same, and thats with me being on Teams meetings throughout the day. i would have expected the chromebooks to last way longer.

Does he have the 530 or the 930. My daughter has the 930 and it gets much better battery life than the 530..they look identical

I've used a Chromebook for a while as a daily driver and really like it. I have a Windows desktop at home and use a chrome remote desktop client to remote in if I need an actual Windows app which is rare, but comes in handy. From my experience, in general, you want/need internet connectivity with these although some offline capability exists.

It's also interesting that I can have dozens of chrome windows open on my Chromebook without issue, yet a handful of chrome tabs on my windows PC can consume gigabytes of ram and bog it down significantly. However, might just be my configuration.

If you have an old laptop you want to breathe life into, you can install chrome os and try it here:
https://chromeenterprise.google/i...omeosflex/

There are also some open source alternatives that, per reddit, have better driver/touch screen support, although I personally havent tried them.
