Reasoning: if you're looking for a big tv in this price range, it's probably to put in a living room or basement, watch tv, sports, and movies on streaming services. If you're trying to make it a state of the art home theater, up your budget three folks. The UR800 has a 120 Hz panel, higher rated in low quality content smoothing, and decent brightness among this crowd (tu690t, A7, S4, cu7000/8000).
After my 2 year old broke my 85" Samsung, I ended up going with the hisense a7 when it was 700 (and $50 back at a cash back site), which was the cheapest TV I could find in this range. (Have a 2 year old and 1 year old right now... Not spending more on a 50/50 shot at another tv breaking.)

I got the UR8000 for $900 when costco dropped their price briefly online. It's a pretty decent TV. For those wondering, it's an IPS display (even though it's not listed anywhere).
Make sure you understand 480 and 720p content is going to look like shit on this thing. 1080p minimum, 4K pref.

Didn't know that, thanks for the info. I wonder how the brightness is for the 86" compared to the one they tested. It's brightness, compared to other entry level TV's seems on the upper end of the spectrum (still well behind mid and high tier TVs). The IPS panels I see on rtings seem to have lower brightness, though I don't know if that's just coincidence.
Funny thing about the content. The UR8000 actually rates for in the low quality content smoothing compared to the other competitors. Certainly correct about a TV that size still having limitations, but if you think that looks like shit, imagine how the TVs with worse content smoothing look.. Yikes.
