Was at Costco yesterday and saw this priced at $19.99. Took a pic of it and came to checkout and asked clerk to price check to make sure the price was not a mistake and was delighted at the price. Bought one. Will post pic of the price if I can. (can't see option in app right now)

Can I use Google Voice as a landline?
Google Voice is a unique case: it is a virtual phone number that can forward to other telephone numbers. If you want to forward a Google Voice telephone number to a landline number, then you need landline telephone service from some service provider. Edit: Upon reading your further posts, it looks like you bought other equipment (at some cost) to use as a workaround, but that way no monthly fees. Thanks and repped.
From that method, you are still dependent on internet being up. So, it's not a landline at all. My Mom's power goes out a lot so she keeps a landline for emergencies and for certain contacts.

I think Google Voice + Obi is dead going forward. There are other VOIP devices/services (e.g., Ooma), but they may have monthly fees.
Why do you say gv + obi is going away? Who's changing how stuff works or changing acceptable use rules?
