If you have the Staples app you might have a coupon in there for $30 off making it $70 there and sometimes they have them on sale too so I have gotten them for $50 multiple times now.

The HomePod is probably the best option for anyone who uses iPhone. Which is the opposite of niche.

I have a Homepod Mini directly from Apple and there are some strange bugs that never got fixed:
- airplay with Youtube from iPhone, can't skip around the video, have to select another video then return
- airplay from Macbook, audio is out of sync from video and has a several second delay responding to your inputs.
Did I get a defective one?

I would try AirPlay from my Mac mini and the sound was always delayed. I ended up returning the two speakers I have because I couldn't deal with it. Bought a cheap Bluetooth soundbar that works perfect instead. They sounded good but were honestly a huge letdown in my book due to the output delay and not always working properly overall with other features like the intercom. Tried working with apple to see if there was anything wrong and they were never able to find anything. As long as I keep seeing people had the same issue I'm going to stay away from HomePods.

Wow still these issues. I had these and other similar issues back when I had the 1st gen standard homepod.

Agreed Siri is behind Alexa as a smart assistant. I have both in my house and I still rely on the HomePods much more because of how well they integrate within the Apple ecosystem.

Can't be used as standalone if it matters, must be connected to the phone. Only big one works as standalone

They must be better with an AppleTV than via airplay via Mac, perhaps? I just have them through my house for Siri.
