One thing that sucks about Lowes (and I like them) is they really limited what items work with discounts. My father-in-law went to pick up electrical supplies for a small project on our house, and none of it qualified for discounts.
Guessing this applies to most reading this thread.. AAFES now has a link to HD appliances where you can buy appliances with like 1% discount and tax free. So basically 10% off appliances, something Lowes stopped giving discounts on. Can also use military star card to buy them.
Because I'm giving Lowe's a thumbs up. I said Home Depot does a cap. It's a max of $400 at Home Depot. Lowe's does not have an annual cap which is very awesome of them.

The discounts help the store. Home Depot is one of the most profitable businesses out there, even with discounts and the absurd amount of theft they deal with. They're fine lol. Lowes on the other hand, I'm not sure how they stay in business without major contractors visiting. It's always hot moms that can get their hands dirty shopping in lowes. I actually prefer lowes vs home depot though, cleaner and less crowded, also better project boards if you need them in a pinch

The NEX has the same offers and far superior customer service and website functionality. We bought a very nice new refrigerator. The AAFES took our money and refused to put the order through, even when we called customer service. They held our money for two weeks, never actually putting the order through. The NEX placed the order immediately with no issues.
I learned last year Home Depot has a cap on how much military discount you can get for the year. Lowe's knows what's up. ๐
On one side I understand HD putting a limit on the discount (which was probably heavily abused), but on the other side the total discount limit of $400 is rather low as that translates to only $4000 in overall purchases. Heck, I hit that $$$ amount March or April several years. More sales for Lowes I guess
