No need to root - use TetherFi [izzysoft.de] for free. If you must stick to the Play Store, there are apps like PDANet+, SecureTether, Netshare, etc. - I've personally used the first two in the past. SecureTether is free if you don't need anything above 256Kbps, otherwise all the Play Store options are paid with trial versions.

Technically it's 10GB of data because after than it says it will slow down and usually it's to the speeds that can't be used but to claim unlimited they do this BS wording while relieving themselves from getting sued by providing few Kbps speeds that you can't even use as GPS sometimes.

The issue with all these non-root options is you have to go through a proxy server, which might lead to privacy issues or a work device not allowing connections through proxies.

For those who need more data, the 6 month 15g plan is better.

NOT BANNED on eBay link.

Pros and cons. Only 6 months term. No promise that the same offer price will be repeatable after it lapses in 6 months. You cannot buy qty 2 and postpone using the 2nd one for that long. For those who only need 10GB, 12 months locked in may be more valuable.

Just like the person who said to buy only 6-months for $50 for 10GB. It's better for them...not necessarily for others.

The proxy server is the app itself, so there's no privacy issue - dunno where you got that idea. It's how they make it look like the connection is initiated on the phone itself.

As far as a work device goes, THEY should be providing the connection for their device. They're taking a advantage of you if they aren't doing so.

6 months is cheaper @ $8.33/month, whereas it'd be $10.5/month if you were to get 12 months or 24 months.

Super easy with pixels that were not purchased from Verizon.

But there are downsides to root. Lots of banking app complain. Google pay doesn't work.

Most people who root also install Magisk, which provides a framework for modules to allow significant modifications to the device. Among those modules is a solution that allows you to conceal the fact you're rooted. It seems to be a game of cat-n-mouse, though. I can't provide specific recommendations (outside of the fact you can find most of this stuff on the XDA Developers [xda-developers.com] website) since it's been a while since I bothered with going down that route.
