i have been using my comma 3 since christmas of 2021. over 90,000 miles on it and i love it. this is for the newer comma 3x.

i have it on my 2020 Lexus UX250h and my 2022 RX450H

it takes driving to level 2 autonomous driving.

it will keep you in lane without having hands on the wheel.
it will keep you in lane when you are braking
it will keep you in lane during stop and go traffic.

it will do stop and go traffic. you can have both hands on a big mac in traffic and the car will start and stop.

FYI i bought mine when it was $2500 plus 200 for the cable. $1050 right now is cheap AF.

There are clones out there but i read constantly of failures. mine has worked flawlessly.
I run sunny pilot fork.

You dont need to drive a lot to need this or appreciate this device. its one of those things, once you have it and use it you'll never want to go back LOL.

Unfortunately, my car is not compatible, but I'm glad that original jailbreaker Geohot's invention reached SD/mainstream.

Just FYI, Comma can do things other OEM lane keep devices can't because they don't have to take responsibility for what happens. They are sold as a development kit and user has to take the responsibility for installing the software. If anything happens it's on you.

Adaptive cruise is garbage compared to Comma. Yes it's very worth it.
Just wanted to know how is this different? I saw someone with it installed in palisades. For highway driving, factory installed adaptive control keeps in the same lane and turns when needed, slow and stops when needed. Wanted to try it out, however I just want to know what this device can do differently.
TIA

I have a comma 2 on my Honda and also drive a Tesla Model Y. Autopilot is definitely more capable since it watches the cars all around you and reacts to everything. Also steering and acceleration/braking interventions are much more robust with Autopilot, as you would expect for a system fully integrated with the car.
That said, recent updates have made Autopilot much less useful for me. It watches your face like a hawk and dings you for looking away from the road even for 1-2 seconds. Disables autopilot for a period of time after a few dings. Also nags you constantly to apply pressure to the wheel. It's gotten so annoying that I find myself rarely using it anymore. I've driven Teslas for several years now and unfortunately Autopilot has gone from being a novelty to a tool, and now back to a novelty.
Comma on the other hand is much less capable than Autopilot, but it does what it's supposed to do every time with no muss or fuss. Keeps the car in its lane and maintains distance from other cars, turns on and off at the push of a button, no nags unless I look away for more than a few seconds, and no requirement to keep hands on the wheel. Even changes lanes much more easily than standard autopilot. I use it all the time and would take it over autopilot (in its current form) any day.

How do these work, can you transfer between vehicles? Like let's say I currently have vehicle A and use this kit with vehicle A, but later replace vehicle A with vehicle B. Would I be able to transfer this kit over to vehicle B?

Yes you can transfer, however you would need a harness for each car ($200)

Does the braking actually use regen or brake pads
For the 23 EUV it uses the cars (premiere) ACC, which means it uses regen upto 10kw. It just does the steering, might be other forks that have longitudinal control. I've only tried stock so far so it just steers and the car does the acc.

FlexRay
All the cars that openpilot supports use a CAN bus for communication between all the car's computers, however a CAN bus isn't the only way that the computers in your car can communicate. Most, if not all, vehicles from the following manufacturers use FlexRay instead of a CAN bus: BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Land Rover, and some Volvo. These cars may one day be supported, but we have no immediate plans to support FlexRay.

The longitudinal controls uses stock. So it uses the Bolts brake blending of regen + brakes. GMs system of 1 pedal drive is the best and smoothest in the industry

Wow amazing deal to make your highway commute less painful if your car supports it. Using this on my 2023 bolt EV 2LT and works great but not perfect. Can either use it stock or a more customized software/fork that you can play around with. Still needs to be ironed out but seems well supported by comma and the community.
Hello, fellow '23 Bolt EV 2LT owner! I see on the OpenPilot GH that our car is supported, but is listed as only functioning down to 3MPH. I was just wondering d if that's been your real-world experience? The only reason I ask is because I know that the Bolt smart cruise control (or whatever they call it) will actually function as stop and go.

George hotz does great work but people saying its better than tesla AP need to get a grip. Geohot himself says on stream comma is basically always 1-2 years behind Tesla (thats a big feat). Its not better than tesla AP on current hardware and likely never will be.

It is however a good price for a great product that's probably better value than Tesla AP. Would say you should fit the hacker persona to some degree if you plan on purchasing this.
Get out of here with that bs. Autopilot is trash and causes more accidents because it's overconfidently bad. It's ability to do more doesn't mean it should.

'Of the systems IIHS tested, only one earned an acceptable rating: The Lexus Teammate with Advanced Drive, offered last year on [] Lexus LS hybrid sedans.'

'GM's Super Cruise and Nissan's "ProPILOT Assist with Navi-link" [] received "marginal" overall ratings.'

and every other one was "poor" overall, "Autopilot" and "Full Self Driving" included.

Ive used Comma products since the Comma 2. I now have a Comma 3 on my RX450H 2020 and a Comma 3X on my 2017 Chevy Volt. Combined i have about 180,000 miles on my Comma 2/3/3X. Amazing devices. I will not buy a car that doesnt support Openpilot natively, or have community support like my Volt does.

My Volt used to run Kegman on C2, then Twilsonco's fork on a C3 before running SunnyPilot.

My Lexus runs Sunnypilot on the C3

TLDR: I F*CKING love it

Yes that is the real world experience. For extended pauses or stops, it does require the user to nudge the openpilot to reengage, but if it is a brief stop, it will go from a stop. There is a workaround being developed but it isn't prime time yet and requires additional hardware (pedal interceptor).
