i have been using my comma 3 since christmas of 2021. over 90,000 miles on it and i love it. this is for the newer comma 3x.

i have it on my 2020 Lexus UX250h and my 2022 RX450H

it takes driving to level 2 autonomous driving.

it will keep you in lane without having hands on the wheel.
it will keep you in lane when you are braking
it will keep you in lane during stop and go traffic.

it will do stop and go traffic. you can have both hands on a big mac in traffic and the car will start and stop.

FYI i bought mine when it was $2500 plus 200 for the cable. $1050 right now is cheap AF.

There are clones out there but i read constantly of failures. mine has worked flawlessly.
I run sunny pilot fork.

You dont need to drive a lot to need this or appreciate this device. its one of those things, once you have it and use it you'll never want to go back LOL.

Unfortunately, my car is not compatible, but I'm glad that original jailbreaker Geohot's invention reached SD/mainstream.

Just FYI, Comma can do things other OEM lane keep devices can't because they don't have to take responsibility for what happens. They are sold as a development kit and user has to take the responsibility for installing the software. If anything happens it's on you.

Why in the world would you thumb down that comment? I spent 22 days in the ICU from a hit and run driver. 45 days total in the hospital. I'm asking people to pay attention when driving....
I agree with u as these devices should be used "responsibly" like anything else in life. They supplement the driving and not take over it. There are other people too that get distracted on their phones nowadays and get into an accident, maybe it's more useful for those irresponsible drivers that don't pay attention. Or maybe for people who travel a lot and helps ease their fatigue. We just need to BALANCE the reliance on these devices, it is the future whether someone agrees with it or not. Just my view.

Edit- According to Tesla, self-automation would get to the point that it would be safer to drive with it as human error would exceed machine error. I think I agree with it 🤷🏼 ♂️. But we are not there yet it reminds me of movie IRobot

It is super capacitor based, not battery. This is how heat resistant dashcams work as well. But a) it has thermal throttle for the snapdragon 845, so stock software won't let it run if it's been cooked, you must blow dehumidifier on it to cool it off. But reality is you should take it off the windshield, it's a sliding mount and USB c cable. 10seconds.
Got it. Thanks for the info!

The day before this post, I came across this thing on a car forum. I was so blown away that I was not even the least bit aware of its existence, since I'm always looking at new tech. Anyways, I ordered it as the website noted the deal and it arrived today. I hope to give it a try by Thursday what with the adhesive curing time and installation of wires.

As others who have this system commented, it should work great. I hope it does, because I'm excited to make my 100mi a day commute easier. You have 30 days to see if it works for you, so why not give it a try? It will only cost you $10 to send it back if it doesn't work out.

I have one - it is awesome. Minimizes driver fatigue on long trips. Makes driving on well marked roads a breeze. Still not full self driving…yet. There are updates.

Any plans to add Volvo or the current gen Toyota Sienna in the near future?
The Toyota Sienna and newer Toyota have security mechanism (TSK) that locks the device from controlling steering and gas/brake. There has been some promising progress but still Work In Progress

Also folks , this is an L2 device. which means driver is ALWAYS responsible. It can upgrade your existing lane keeping assist system and give you false sense of security , but just like before you are always responsbile

As a motorcycle rider that is often in stop and go traffic, this thread scares the CRAP out of me. People are depending on a not fully tested automated system to see me on my bike and stop your car for you. When it takes me out its not the companies fault...you're not going to take blame...and I have a broken back.

Please don't depend on these devices. Continue to drive your cars even when it's active!
to give you an idea of how this works. This is actually safer than a person driving the car. It uses the radar in most car to detect objects in front. so it will do a better job at stopping a car then someone that is distracted by a phone or not paying attention. of course, you are supposed to be paying attention at all time. this also has a face recognition to make sure you are paying attention, on top of that it tracks your eyes to see if you are paying attention.

Will this work with an e-golf SE?
Yes, you just have to run a script to get the car to enable HCA (can also be done with OBD coding tools): https://github.com/commaai/openpi..._config.py

Jump on the discord and go to the volkswagen-audi-skoda channel; lots of discussion and help. I just ordered one for my 2019 SE. Make sure the harness you order is J533 (if you search cars on comm.ai site for golf you'll see e-Golf and that picks the right one)

More info: https://github.com/commaai/openpi...way)-Cable

Great little device and highly recommended...
Just a tip to start is to make sure your car is compatible with it. If not, you just get a nice and expensive dash cam...
That's not just a tip but need to know... Wink

SUPPORT:
openpilot requires the car to come equipped with Smart Cruise Control (SCC).

My Elantra do not have SCC , so it means not supported ?
