macebell are excellent fitness tools, but depending on what movements you want to use 10lbs is gonna be a bit much for a beginner. I built my own out of 1" schedule 40 and some plumbing fittings, loosely based on what this guy did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5-aDCeicog
And I started up with a 2.5 lb plate (obviously total weight was closer to 5). But Obviously you want to scale for your goals. It's probably not bad if you just want to try out the concept but the standard 'swings' you really don't need much weight at all (and in fact can be counterproductive) to get the most benefit from this style of training.

That vid is awesome, and a bit better (for me) because of the adjustability - great share, thank you!

Only thing I'll add, this came out during pretty much peak covid gym equipment inflation, so there are actually other ways to go about this now that prices have come back down to earth... namely a cheap spinlock barbell cut down to desired length. I haven't tried this method but thought it may be helpful especially if people have one laying around!

Is your plan to make the object of your road rage burst into tears from laughing when you pull this out? If so it's a good idea

The weight and size make this a bad choice for what you're thinking about (it's like carrying a Sledgehammer) get an indestructible bat, ball, and a glove (which is Also explained away easier than an exercise mace 🤣)
Also put a sock on it so when they grab it. It slips from there hands and round two. In my street fighter voice

What are the benefits of this versus swinging a sledgehammer for excercise?
I've tried both (sledgehammer while waiting for my Macebell to come when originally ordering) and Macebell itself 2-3 days a week for the last couple of years. I find a macebell better balanced as the handle does have some weight. The sledgehammer is 95% of the weight on the end which means it can really act like a pendulum to the point even minor movements can get away from you.

Probably both have their place however I would assume someone using a legit sledgehammer would need a much lighter overall weight thus less of a full body workout.
