The marketing copy is pretty gaudy, and the sheer number of products guarantees a crazy amount of redundancy. That plus the prices aren't always competitive for the performance. These aren't unique issues to chem guys, but all that plus the snobbery that comes with any hobby creates more backlash.

My ideal kit would be clay bar, wash bucket, wash mitt, tire cleaning chemical, car soap and some kind of interior cleaner for leather/plastic. Clay bars are such a simple and effective way to get a next level exterior clean on your paint.

Good price. For those who hate Chemical Guys products move on...

This is bad advice, clay bars are actually an abrasive, and can mar paint if not used appropriately or excessively, clay towels are synthetic and do not scratch. You can use a clay towel to decontaminate your paint every single time you wash you if want. There is a reason why professional detailers use clay towels instead of bars these day.

I bought a kit once that had a lot of product I already had so I thought it'd be good to get it and sell the extras I had on Amazon. I got slapped with a cease and desist from them. I had the paperwork to prove where I bought it from. Haven't bought from them since. They think they're the LV of the auto cleaning market. They're ok, not that great.

They are fine as products, but it is a marketing company. You can get better quality for the same money and the same quality for less money. That is why they are always on sale places - they are competing with lower priced products.

chemical guys are widely known to just change the scent and color of their products and say that its a ton better and charge more for it.

as much as i like some of the stuff they have, its all the same thing when you boil it down.

now in regards to their hardware, cloths, and such, i dont mind them. havent tried the electrical power washer yet though.
