That looks like a great price performance deal. But... I used to build all my computers and it was pretty straightforward. Now I have to be sure I match the CPU to the motherboard and the RAM. And the power supply.

I know, it should be stupid simple, but getting the parts from Newegg is just not as assured as it used to be.

In the last few years, I have just bought "refurb" computers (Dell, mostly) with 16G RAM for around $120 shipped. I can expect that everything is in order and I won't have to spend energy getting a motherboard, CPU, and RAM working together. And the total price is lower.

I salute those who continue to build new machines from parts, and those may be the best performers for those who need that level. But I am going to buy refurb machines with low prices and (by older standards) great performance.
So you were putting Pentiums in AMD motherboards before?

As an alternative, you can pick up used 3500s for $56 off AliExpress and get PCIe 4.0 support with it and get generally better performance.

it's only 15$ diffence, for something you will use for a long time.

Just spend 15$ don't be stingy unless you absolutely don't have or want to spend the money

Some people haven't been around that long to realize the 321-pin socket 7 can take AMD or Intel Pentium processor.

Building a pc is easier than ever before. There's some nuance sure, but not like there never was in the past.
