Franklin Guitar Works has the Fender Aerodyne Special Telecaster Electric Guitar in Hot Rod Burst on Reverb for $649 with free shipping.

First of all: these will be sold as USED, even though FGW indicates they are mint and in their factory boxes. Because of this, there will be no factory warranty. This is how Fender disposes of excess inventory.

The Aerodynes are Made in Japan. The necks on the ones I've tried are fantastic. They also have the flatter 12" radius (as on the Nashville Telecaster) rather than the more common 9.5" radius.

Of particular note, the pickups are a bit different than a traditional Tele, being far less bright and in-your-face. If you want 100% twangy Telecaster, this won't be the guitar for you. Nonetheless, the ones I've seen are extremely well made and finished and feel and sound great, even if that sound isn't quite traditional.

Lightly carved top, locking tuners, separate maple fingerboard on a maple neck, made in Japan... $650 is an absolute steal for this set of specs. The color isn't my favorite, but if I was in the market for a Telecaster I'd definitely be willing to overlook that.
Thank God you told us! We were all on the edge of our seats in anticipation of what guitars you have and like better than this one!

I can't bring myself to put stickers on a guitar. Dents and scars, sure. Stickers? NEVER.

It's funny, I'm not all that particular about colors so long as they're not gaudy. I mean, I don't care for tobacco burst versus an iced tea or cherry burst, but even the tobacco burst looks good enough. Solid black has its appeal. White is really dull. But they all work.

Sparkle and chameleon finishes are overdone, but I can understand why some like them.

As for the colors on the Aerodynes, I was surprised by how much I liked a color as simple as a glossy gray. Beautifully understated, and accented by both the painted headstock and the body binding. The yellowish tint of that gorgeous satin neck REALLY worked. I didn't buy that guitar, but thinking about it now, I should consider making that happen. It was the first guitar I've handled in a while that MOVED me.

(For the record, I'm a lousy player. But I have a couple of guitars that just "clicked" with me. One of them was the Blueridge BR-43, their entry level 000 size guitar. It just sang. I have a Taylor 314 that's nicer in most every way, but I prefer playing the Blueridge. Go figure.)

White looks amazing under stage lighting. It becomes whatever color the lighting designer wants it to be ;-)

Thats encourging to see that price. I gotta have an HSS though.

I bought the white SSS and threw a SD hotrail in the bridge slot. It wails pretty hard now.

They have a sweet Fender MIJ JV Mod 50s Telecaster if anyone wanted to go for a traditional Tele for $764. https://reverb.com/item/80538841-...-blonde-it

Looks like that price is no longer, but that really is a sweet looking guitar.

Will need to keep an eye on Franklin. Looks like they get some pretty cool "non run of the mill" stuff
