Notice the difference in wording between this and the Office Depot Chase offer. On the Office Depot Chase offer, it says "Earn 5% cash back on all of your Office Depot purchases, until a $5.50 cash back maximum is reached."

However, on this offer, it says "Earn 10% cash back on your The Home Depot purchase, with a $54.00 cash back maximum." And then it also says later "Offer valid One time only." (which it did not say by the Office Depot offer).

So it seems very clear that this will only work on your first purchase, and not multiple purchases.
Thanks! I was looking for this information.
I purchased $500 digital gift card, and it now shows I saved $50. So for those who wonders if you need digital vs physical card, digital works

FWIW if you didn't originally have the offer, check again. I actually received an email from Chase yesterday that I initially deleted: "XXXXX, earn rewards on your spring home improvement projects". I initially did not have the offer on my card but found it on my CSP when I got the email.

Surely someone looking at a Home Depot thread has experience with garage door openers and can chime in here to help me make an informed decision (while saving 10%)... thanks for reading in advance.

TLDR:

Chamberlain B4505T $229 or
Chamberlain B4603T $269 or
Chamberlain B4655T $299 or ???

Camera and battery backup are not a dealbreaker for me. I would like an external keypad. Belt drive, DC, 3/4hp is where I am at after researching.

Wall mount (RJO101) is an option if it were a clear winner. I guess $500 would be worth it over the next 20 years but would you recommend DIY or should it be installed by a pro? Trying not to overthink it. 😆

I have an ancient Craftsman 75th anniversary 1/2 hp screw drive garage door opener, purchased somewhere around 2002. It was installed in my apartment garage and later in my house with attached 2 car garage purchased 2005. Been working like a champ ever since, until recently.

The door opens and closes fine (newer springs and rollers within 5 years), but the remote range is hit or miss recently. I have a separate MyQ installed (for years), and even it has become hit or miss which leads me to believe the opener may be on its last legs (board). 22 years of service and all. Bought a new Chamberlain remote and it didn't change anything. Sometimes it opens from street, sometimes I have to be up near the door. Intermittent.

I think the openers I mentioned fit the bill, just wondering if the camera and battery are worth $70? I have a Wyze cam in the garage and Wyze lock with keypad on the front door, so a camera and battery backup are not a requirement for me. If I could reuse my existing external keypad (not likely) I wouldn't even need one and could go for the B2211T for $179.

External keypads are always a possible add on, that is, you don't need to buy one with an opener. Whether or not you need a battery backup is up to you, in some states they are required, but think of how many times you've tried to use your opener with the power out. It's harmless, but I'd think eventually the battery will die.

HP is a big buzz word, and mostly hype. You can probably find better sources for objective info on HP required for certain size doors. Ideally if your counterweight/spring system is good and set up properly, there isn't that much for the opener to do, and it shouldn't be doing a lot.

Retrofits are generally easy too, provided you are using similar style opener, e.g. replacing a belt/chain with a belt/chain, but not replacing belt/chain with direct drive. I did that in my last house going from chain to belt just so it was quieter. Also wound up being a tad quicker too.

I had doors/openers replaced in my new place a couple years ago but the openers I chose I got on clearance from Costco, Chamberlain battery with cameras. The cameras are OK, but to get any features from the app you have to subscribe. All in all if I had to choose cameras for the garage I'd just buy ones in my existing ecosystem (Ring) rather than integrated ones.

At least for Chase Freedom, I have to log into my account; go under Your Offers; Add the Home Depot 10% offer. There are other retailers too under the Your Offer.

After you used the Chase Card at the retailer that, you can track it in the account under Offers redeemed or you also get an email. This is different from the quarterly 5% bonus categories.

Banks offering Chase Visa Cards also have these offers. But need lot of effort to check on the website and activate the offer.

Bought some physical gift cards and it shows as pending Homedepot.com. Likely good to go, and Chase is usually pretty good about it if you have issues.
Purchased third party physical gift cards, and it shows pending from "HOMEDEPOT.COM"

I've seen others post the same in other fora, but no info on final posted transaction

Purchased a $500 GC for physical delivery and $100 worth of salt in store pickup.

Heads up: The in store pickup is showing as HOME DEPOT XXXX <--store code, so I'm not sure if the 10% will apply to the salt.

You must have never shopped their true slick deals and clearance sales. Just depends on the stores and their managers. I've been fortunate in that respect.
