Fiber glass poles are in the lower end, heavier and easier to break, compare w aluminum in higher end tents, not good especially w wind & extreme weather.
Fiberglass poles
So weight does not really matter then. Tent manufacturers usually figure about 28 inches per person sleeping room when they size up a tent. But for your purposes, I would double that...so when they advertise a 4 man tent, it would be comfortable for 2 people. I would get the bigger tent, it should be fine to use and decide how much you enjoy camping--or not.

Much better options for the price… I made the mistake of buying a cheap Coleman tent after getting semi invested in camping, but now I only buy specialized tents which are a night and day difference in quality but not much of a difference in price if you find a good deal.

Good tents;

- Wawona 6 Tent $349.99 instead of $500. You cannot go wrong with this tent, even thought I don't have it, it is an amazing and awesome tent in quality for that price… The ratings show that.

- Marmot Limestone 4P tent is 239.78 with member24 code instead of 389.00. This is another very solid tent for the price, has a full vestibule which is pretty rare with these newer tents.

I also know someone mentioned the REI Skyward but that is closer to the lower mid grade. It doesn't have a full vestibule which means less wind and rain protection, and is not domed meaning it will catch all wind like a vessel of placed directly in wind. (For the price this is a great calm weather, short weekend tent.)

Better options for the price? Are you serious? Comparing sub-100 to over $300 tents? Not everyone wants to drop that much. These are good options for the price.

I understand at what aspect you are coming from, but I am actually serious. I use to buy these semi cheap tents until each one's poles broke after about 2 years forcing me to throw out $100 about 3 times for tents which are about to leak from every angle and break.

*This is a perfect tent for beginners*

I camp in fairly harsh weather conditions with 20 mph winds and I see these tents collapse instantly. Walmart recently had a way better deal of a tent with aluminum poles which in the end cause a big difference. A full vestibule also keeps your tent more secure and not for leaking.

I was just speaking from experience, trying to help people out. This is a perfect tent for new campers who may only go camping 2 - 3 weekends per year in very light conditions.
