BNTL (Buy Now Think Later)

This is a continuation repost of the FP deal which was for CostCo.com. This deal is for CostCo B&M for instant gratification, limit 2 and expires tomorrow Sunday 3/17. They sold a few while I was doing our weekly shopping in Clackamas, Oregon.

CostCo requires a membership, if you don't have a CostCo near you or don't have a membership you can get one for $699 at Walmart. According to the local Apple rep at CostCo they only have space gray and gold colors, no silver. Links are for reference only.

To check your local CostCo B&M inventory you may have to break sacred rule #1:
  1. Call your local warehouse [costco.com] press option 1.
  2. Ask if they have item 1481769 (space gray) or item 1481772 (gold) in stock or at any other warehouses in your area?
  3. Technically you can check inventory online [costco.com] but I prefer to call.

90 Day Return Policy
2nd year warranty (reminder the Citi CostCo extended warranty is dead)
Free Technical Support
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

I think it's both of your complete lack of context for the average man. The base m1 air is a light computing powerhouse, even today. I've been using PC for decades, but decided to buy an m1 air because the new architecture intrigued me. The battery life alone still continues to amaze me to this day. You guys need to realize that rare earth metals are not an infinite resource, and we should be applauding efficient use. These machines are meant for web browsing, document editing, and other light tasks. For that, it will continue to be quick and snappy for YEARS. Let me add, that yes, Apple often makes dumb decisions. Their decades of intel laptops were marred by poor performance and heat issues, at the trade off for design. The transition to ARM chips has seriously changed the game here, it's a legitimate computing marvel.

Revisionist history at its finest.

8gb is definitely not enough for tab hoarders. My wife has this model and it is constantly telling her it's out of memory. If you restart your computer or close browser tabs often you should be good but that kinda takes away from the Apple "magic." Great computer, but 8gb is definitely not ideal and will be the reason you upgrade prematurely. I would buy at this price but I would try hard to find something with more headroom on the ram.

Wouldn't be a Mac thread without a bunch of neckbeards complaining about memory and storage.

We have a fleet of these for video production at live events and they're fantastic. The average Facebook/email/web users should be fine.
That's the point. The average web browsing user can get by with a <$200 Chromebook

From a purely technical point, you should avoid 8gb ram Mac and opt for 16 instead. Will save you more money in the long run.

The Macbook Air is a great laptop at its price, but I can't help but feel like 8GB of RAM in the year 2024 is just not enough.

You're not really giving any basis for your "purely technical point" assertion. From a "purely technical point," these run MacOS perfectly well for a wide range of general productivity uses, web browsing, movie watching, and more. I've run a video production company on Macs, BUT NOT ON THESE; as long as you're not trying to do the latter or something similar, these are just fine. (And, you can save plenty of money "in the long run" buying these on sale and moving on to something similarly priced when you need to.)

No, people won't stop buying! It's an 🍎 thing. Everyone needs to have one even though the configuration is inferior.
Having one is more of a fashion statement rather than anything 😄 But nobody wants to admit it.
People are okay to deal with the limitations as long as it's a MAC.

Only 8gb RAM in 2024? That's more like a 2006 configuration. 256GB SSD is kinda small too. This thing is a toy.
Apple has some jet engine fluid inside so that it consumes minimal power and does not consume memory. It works without memory.. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

If you dont be blind in 2024, any comparable pc is atleast 2-3 times better than low power loww memory low storage dim macbook air. Just because you get a $350 discount doesnt make it better. Only if m2 macbook air is there for $650 then we can talk just because of decent design. All these m1-m2 macbooks with base memory and disk space are crap. Doesnt even copy photos and videos from iphone, takes hours to process it. Stop glorifying companies mess looting public

I seriously second what you said. Unfortunately, a lot of people who have never experienced ARM architecture chip enabled newer MacBooks, just don't know how good they have become. There are also "never Apple" types who will die before they buy anything Apple!
