I opt'd not to get power walls just because I did not see the point/advantage. Although my circumstances have mostly gone the same since installing I definitely see more benefits of having a power wall for off-peak usage. I generate a lot of excess electricity that feeds back to SCE for pennies 😡
If I were to buy something like this, can I:
1) Take advantage of the tax credit again?
2) Set this up so it recharges during daylight/solar production and have it automatically kick on once sundown hits.
3) assuming two is possible, is it a seamless, no moving parts kind of deal/setup? Or will I have to manually hit switches or remember to enable/disable something.
2 and 3. No, doesn't work like that.
is to get a system like this (whichever brand you go with), and then an inverter generator that hums along relatively quietly on eco mode to add power into the system as/when needed, compared to a conventional gas generator or a whole-house gas generator
in the event of an outage, you'll automatically switch over to the home battery system if you have the automatic transfer switch configuration, or manually if you have a manual transfer switch or an interlock. then this system's inverter is handling the power needs for the house which is better than using a generator which will rev up and down. and for added silent input, you can deploy your solar panels to silently feed power into the batteries.
when the battery system level drops to a certain point, fire up the inverter generator behind your house set on eco mode to charge up the battery system (and/or also can deploy solar panels if you haven't already).
i prefer the Goal Zero Yeti Pro home backup system over the EcoFlow. lithium phosphate cells in the Goal Zero are rated for more cycles (10% more cycles), it meets UL2743, IPX3, and MIL-STD-810H, and using certain affiliate sites you can get a better deal.
For example ..... the Goal Zero Yeti Pro 12kW set comes with the manual+automatic mode transfer switch, is currently $7,749. You can use a 20%-off coupon code from GOVX and get the price down to $6,200, or $4,800 for the 8kW set.

1. Heavy duty metal shelf ($100)
2. 10kW 48V Solar Hybrid Inverter Split-Phase 200A MPPT Solar Charge ($1669)
3. 8 x Renogy 48V 50Ah LiFePO4 Smart ($640 each during Black Friday x 8 = $5120)
4. Battery cables ($100)
Result:
19200 Wh vs 12000 Wh (60% gain)
LiFePO4 pouch cells vs prismatic cells (lighter)
What happens if one of the individual batteries goes bad? Does the whole bank fail?

If course it's not comparable to this setup. But you can buy custom DC inverter which connects to main DC 240V battery and can run as long as you have gas.
