There are extra fees for seat reservations, checked baggage and a meal which come to about $160 RT. The free carry-on baggage weight limit is just 7kg, so if you have more than that you may be better off paying the extra fee of $160 and getting checked baggage (though you'd still be limited to 7kg for carry-on so it's best to put as much in checked and have the free 7kg and not pay extra for the bigger carry-on allotment). If you don't need seat reservations or a meal, and don't have checked baggage, you can pay about $75 RT for the larger 15kg carry-on allotment. Seat reservations would be about $41 RT.

All food and drink is extra, but not expensive (about $2.50-$3 for a soft drink, e.g.) but it's best to bring food (you can get good take-out meals at Narita airport) and drink bottles with you on board). Link to food and drink prices: https://www.zipair.net/en/service/meal

August is hottest month in Japan. I would avoid going there that time of the year.
San Jose and LAX are far away from eachother.. San Jose is an alternative to SFO and Oakland
Flew with them last year. IMO, if you have limited luggage it's fine but they nickel and dime you on everything else

we were in Japan for two weeks last August and yes it was hot and humid but can be managed by staying hydrated, having a hand-held fan, and shifting outdoor schedule to avoid mid day/afternoon heat. Vending machines and convenient stores literally everywhere to grab a cold drink anytime. The benefit of going in August was it was less crowded and we were able to enjoy places like Hakone, Kyoto etc without crazy long queues and mad crowds. Early August there were still some summer festivals, after mid August it is more quiet. August is still typhoon season but it was winding down last year and we didn't run into any storms.

Btw, I saw something as low as 764 yesterday on Singapore from LAX to NRT, which is just an ok price IMHO.
For what dates? I can't find any roundtrip LAX-NRT flights this year for under $900.

Avoid Japan in the summer at all cost- unless you like humidity.

Went to Osaka last August - never again. Having been to multiple SE Asian countries, and visited Miami in the summer, it was worse than all of those. Maybe it was just last year but it was mentioned by locals as being possibly the worst Summer weather theyve ever had. Dont know what it is about the Japan humidity but the air is HEAVY, like you actually can feel it.

Nah. There are deals by ZipAir that can be as low as $450. Although, that means a trip around the late month of February (and before March) and the deal comes up around October or November. If you do this trip for October, then this is a decent deal. I'm waiting for one to pop up for LAX to NRT.

It's not that humid coming from someone from the midwest (MO) of course. I'm in Japan with my wife's family for 6 months a year.. you are over blowing it for sure. This isn't Thailand or Vietnam. It's Nihon. Roll out.. see you guys in August! woot

*yes.. post covid it's just been awful.. so many tourists leaving trash everywhere.. I know when fellow Americans are around.. fights in the street, leaving trash everywhere etc.. welcome back USA... USA.. USA! Just saying.. true story

Trying to book Zipair for Christmas Holiday travel from SFO. Anyone remember what prices were like during that period last year?

LOL oh yeah it can still be crowded in certain places particularly in major cities given the population density but it wasn't CRAZY crowded at tourist destinations like it can be during peak seasons.

I've been a few times. I am courteous to any country I go to- freaking idiots. I am not from anywhere where it is humid.
