Get the Odin 2. Base price is $299.
It can play all system up to until switch almost perfectly.

Switch is mostly good experience and most game runs great. But once the emulator improve it will be better. At this point it is the switch emu software hardware have plenty of power

Can someone school me on these. Does it come with games or do I need to download and transfer an emulator and games to a microSD card first? If so any recommended sites? Any good tutorials?

Although my purchase total came out to be $34.35, at that price, it's well worth it.

when was it on sale for $30?
It was on Monday. It's normally around $50 on anbernic's tiktok shop... But they offered 25% off coupon for new customers

I'd highly consider jumping up to an RGB30 as they've been dropping to around $50 and represent substantial upgrade in my opinion. I ordered this for my brother and tested and set it up for him and it's absolutely a bargain at this price and will be satisfying, but there's just a definite cheapness to the device and the experience using it that can be avoided unless you're truly strapped for budget.

I have one - got it in December for ~$40. Well worth it for a starter device. Had to invest in new SD cards (don't use the ones that come with it, they are junk) and a new glass screen protector (I messed up the one that came with it), and did a simple modification to loosen the d-pad (it's screwed in too tight and doesn't have a lot of movement for diagonals stock).

And I have to say, about $40 or less is probably what I would pay for a handheld device, as it's cool but I don't use it as much as I thought I would. The LCD screen quality it comes with is just okay - colors are kinda bad on it. With these devices, YMMV with the part quality as they are all sourced from different manufacturers.

And I'm more of a Sega guy than a Nintendo one, so the four button layout isn't ideal. But for a sub-$40 starter device that can play all 8/16-bit consoles and even Playstation 1 without problem (and that it has the two analog sticks is great), you really can't beat it.

How about the Trimui Smart Pro vs Powkiddy x55?

Quote from ProtonDestron :
The E6 uses the older RK3326 processor (same as R36S), so it can't really make use of the 2 joysticks, except on a very limited PS and PSP game selection it can emulate.

At $50 the heavily-discounted Trimui Smart Pro seems to be a better choice, given its better layout (why does the E6 put ABXY buttons under its right stick?), screen and performance.

NaPra, if I must have OLED in a small formfactor, not steamdeck sized. Are my only options the anbernic 503 and 505 ? Do you know if anything that size or smaller with oled is coming out soonish?

Another member recommended vita, but that's too hackintosh for my skills. yummy

Ok, so out of all of these Chinese handheld hack machines, what models are actually worth getting so I can set notification alerts for them? I'm getting lost in all the revision and competitors.

Less than 12 days now. Any garbage you see promoted on Amazon, you can almost find on AliExpress or the other Chinese sites nowadays.

Don't do like me and only order your Odin 2 and a screen protector only to realize it doesn't fit in a standard Switch case, then end up paying an extra $18 shipping for the AYN device case plus carrying case as a separate order 🤦 ♂️ Order it all at once!!

Otherwise- Odin 2 is amazing. Retro Game Corps has reviewed most things and is one of the better YT reviewers with pros/cons of devices, consistent testing, etc. He won't bad mouth things, but will be fair to point out flaws, not recommend, or say like "I really hope they change _____ in the next version because" of a flaw. I think he also points out his preferences, but will say if your preferences are different than _____.

Are there handhelds like this that can run accuracy focused emulators such as BSNES?

I know some people are perfectly content with just compatibility but for me it's not good enough especially for the kinds of games I want to play.

jumped on one for $32 shipped, i wanted to try one of these and price wise, this is a great price to performance. For gameboy, nintendo snes, etc, mame, this is going to be great, but for more powerful games, i will use my legion go....

These will play most PSP games and some N64. Good price, capable device, but QA is nonexistent when it comes to Ali and refund/return process is painful.
