They have never offered free shipping on any order. Granted it used to be $50 like 2 years ago.

I'll let you in on a little secret, companies that offer free shipping just build it into the price of the product.

Well, it can be argued that since Z-wave is mesh based, there's some value on focusing on one platform (more nodes == stronger mesh with more reliability/range). With that said, most controller platforms (SmartThings, Hubitat, Home Assistant, etc.) all support multiple so running multiple protocols isn't a huge issue.

eh. Why not run both?

I've got zigbee, zwave, wifi and matter devices. No issues with any of them.

Ok I was thinking of getting rid of z wave cause I was having issues but people from this board and reading up on it z-wave is still the way to go. So I got a Zooz 800 Series Z-Wave Long Range Scene Controller Switch ZEN32 last time. There were over $25 this time they are just over $20 and wow. You can do so much with it. Really worth it even if you don't really need it. Lets face it your voice can do it just as easily but if you have company it's easier to tell them what button to push to turn on certain lights so they don't have to remember the command I'm getting another one at this price.

I recently replaced just about all the bulbs and switches and such in the house and went Zigbee, previously it was a lot of Wi-Fi that was flaky at best. Honestly it's been pretty great, other than one stupid bulb that won't connect to the mesh I've had zero problems with anything.

I looked at both Zigbee and Z-Wave and went Zigbee because it's a little cheaper and supports a (much) higher number of devices. Horses for courses, but that's what sounded better for me.

Can someone with the latest generation of Zooz switches comment on the feel of pressing on the switch? I have some older Zooz switches and they have a mushy press as opposed to my (albeit fragile) GE switches that are very clicky.

I've been meaning to install some multi-sensors around the house and write rules for them for over two years now. Whoops.

Zigbee vs Zwave is the Xbox vs Playstation of home automation. Both have pros and cons. The website offers some zigbee products but is mostly Z-wave. The Zigbee products rarely make it into these sales.

For sure. I was explaining why Zigbee was the way to go for me, and that Z-Wave isn't necessarily "the" way to go. Do some quick research before you get into a system and potentially save yourself a bunch of hassle. And avoid Wi-Fi devices if you can.

Sure, I have some Wi-Fi and some Zigbee and I tie them together with Home Assistant.

Sure, but $99 as a threshold is insulting. This always comes up, and fans/shills for this company always defend them.

It's true, Z-Wave is getting killed by the dominant platforms, gotta accept that. The old-timers will keep resisting SmartThings and Matter until...well...ya know.
It's like you guys would be happier if there wasn't a free shipping tier… I mean, FFS, Amazon is 35$ without an paid membership and they brought in just shy of 600B$ last year.
It's amazing to me what people "expect" and find "insulting"…

Oh, and Matter… lol, yeah, another layer on crappy WiFi devices to "unify" them… yup, super.
