To those who have purchased H&R Block AND TurboTax, I have a question for you...

Is TurboTax similar to H&R Block, in that the software is downloaded via a link and can be downloaded to multiple computers?? And can the TurboTax software be installed and used without a key? H&R Block has this feature, in that the software can be downloaded to different computers and installed. The key or code only comes in to play when one actually needs to electronically file through H&R Block's servers, to the IRS.

I would like to try to Turbo Tax, to compare it to H&R Block, but would like some input as to how the install of the software is completed and the key/code for installation.

TT has always required the license key to install, but this year they are also requiring an Intuit account and that key is linked to one and only one Intuit account. You can still install on 5 PCs using that account. Supposedly, no tax files are linked to the Intuit account, but I'm skeptical. It certainly makes sharing a key/account potentially more sketchy.

So in short, no.

I bought this in December for this years taxes. I'm still unable to file with it because Form 8936 STILL isn't available for the software. It's the $7500 credit for purchasing an EV. Very annoying. Otherwise, it's H&R Block software

I would be frustrated too. I am not sure whether that it is H&R Block fault or the government for not providing guidance to them. Regardless, the H&R Block update page says that this will be available on March 22nd, which is only a few days away now.

1st time filing online with software, I was wondering if H&R is better than TT for W2, stock trading and homeowner. From what i have youtubed, most of videos are about TT. But seems TT isn't onsale as much as H&R? Thanks

It initially said it would be available by 8th March. Then it said it would be available by 15th March, and now saying it would be available 22nd March.... fingers crossed it they push it out any futher or not....

Weird that Deluxe and Deluxe+state are the same price. I mean, great if you need the state version but I don't and I'd rather have plan Deluxe for $15 or so....

Both will get the job done. Some people prefer H&R Block interface while some prefer Turbotax interface.
