Thanks! Will debate with the gf if this is a Halloween movie or Christmas movie. She thinks Gremlins/Die Hard fall on "happens during Christmas but not a Christmas movie"
Does 4k make that much of a difference over HD for this? Seems like the claymation would mask the difference in resolution...
I hate that we are penalized for adopting the digital format early on and have to pay the full price a second time to get a higher resolution.
Depends on whether they made a new 4K scan of the original film or just upscaled the 2K.
What I'd want to know is how much difference the HDR color grade makes because even more than resolution, brightness is the real distinguishing factor between HD and 4K releases and the color pop of Christmas Town and Oogie Boogie's neon blacklight lair could be awesome.
I just got a Sony A95L QD-OLED and the brightness compared to my old LG CX is (pardon the pun) like day and night. John Wick 2 and 4 shine and OMFG is Pacific Rim an eye-searing demo piece. (Should be for what it cost.)

My argument is simple for Gremlins and Diehard.. what season was the film released. If the fall then perhaps, but I don't see any studio making a christmas movie and releasing it between January and August.

Too many people focus on resolution, rather than the more important thing, which is HDR/Dolby Vision. This is also on Disney+ in 4K and it's definitely better looking than the HD version. It is more crisp and the color is better. However, it's still not mind blowing.

Die Hard starts at the Nakatomi Christmas Party, makes it more of a Christmas story along the same lines of Home Alone. If it were an X-mas party… it'd be debatable.

I think you have a good case for a divorce, Die Hard is most definitely a Christmas movie. In fact, don't even try playing the Die Hard Christmas Movie Drinking Game unless you seriously want to damage your liver. 🤣🤣
