iRobot is an American company for one. Roborock is Chinese. I know a lot of people don't care, but that's at least to me a good reason to avoid it.

Inevitably I will get some smart@ss that thinks we aren't aware of the fact that most stuff are assembled or manufactured in China. The point is more that the entire software stack on the vacuum and all the data it collects are under Chinese "company" control. I put "company" in quotes, because anyone that has ever dealt with such regimes know it's not just a company. Any large company of sufficient size all have direct ties to the government/CCP.

PS, I'm part Chinese, and being Asian get treated differently than obvious tourists even if they recognize us as tourists when traveling to countries like that.

I bought this about 3 months ago from same eBay site. The item was in new condition and I feel like this was a great price for this unit

Fantastic deal on a really good vacuum. For those that are unaware, the J7 has a front camera with light to detect obstacles and pet messes. I've never experienced the horror stories I have heard about with Roombas running over dog poo and never want to! The only caveat I will add is that I've tried for 2 other deals from the same seller and both units had enough issues that I returned them because I did not want to deal with Allstate. The last few claims on items were a pretty painful process.

I bought this exact same deal about 5 months ago. No issues with the product. You can tell it was refurb, some scuffs on the robot. But no issues with the vacuum itself.

Any idea how this model deals with long hair? Will it get tangled in the brushes that I'll have to remove regularly and cut the hair with scissors?

Depends on needs since neither is best at all, but having both, I vote Roborock mostly due to lidar navigation and app. I think there was this same/similar deal posted this weekend as well which has similar discussions.

Interesting. So what would be the pros of this over roborock?

Not sure if this will work, but here's my post from the deal last week.

Yes, unfortunately. Dog hair accumulates around the front wheel (easy enough to remove) and wife's hair around the side brush (have to unscrew it to completely remove) and rollers. Our older Roomba just had tangles around the roller axles when you took them out. This j7+ got some around one of the rollers that cut through the ridges on it and now that's where it accumulates every time.

We've also been disappointed with how frequently it gets stuck by shutting itself in the bathroom, flipping over bath rug corners, or its favorite: getting the bumper stuck. With the latter, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it - it just wants you to tap the bumper a few times and send it on its merry way…

Waiting until we move later this year and Black Friday rolls around to snag a Roborock or similar with LiDAR and mop water tanks now that Roomba lost it's dual roller patent which was its only significant advantage IMO.

Good luck with Robobrock/Deebot. Their software is a joke. Loses map left and right and frankly the feratures it has only work some times. I gave up and mine is sitting in my office collecting dust. So much for spending $800 on this piece of junk. Hoping I robot (at a much cheaper price) or rooomba will at least work ok as I am done with these Chinese POS. I joined several facebook groups and the amount of workarounds people have to do for these things to just work is ridicoulus.
