For the air I (and those around me, both humans and pets) breathe every single day, it's worth it to me to spend the extra $1.25 a month ($15 for the year) to KNOW that I'm getting the full use and efficiency out of a Winix air purifier the way it was meant to be used. It's just a once a year "investment" for airway health, so I'll gladly go with the vouched name brand and not risk the air I am breathing to a generic filter from a possibly poor-quality-control maker just to save a few dollars. In the end it's your decision though.
