Bought this some time ago and returned it. It requires you enter the amp hour rating on the battery, and not all manufacturers list it on the battery or online. You can calculate it but I found that isn't accurate either and can give vastly different values based on your estimate.

Are all kinds of car batteries compatible with this ANCEL BA101 Car Battery Tester? What specific features make it stand out compared to other battery testers on the market?

As with most deals of this type, only the price is the stand out factor.

Does this have any advantages over a multimeter?

Yes, it measures internal resistance. Does everyone need one, no, I mean a good sign of needing a new battery is your car won't crank anymore. However if you are proactive about maintenance you can track and at least know when your battery is needing some attention. I was on the fence last time, but I'm really glad I got one, it has come in handy already.

I'm guessing most common use is automotive and you should have a good starting point for the CCA based on the car model. Are there testers that can predict what the supposed CCA value is for a given battery just by connecting it?

Ordered one thanks op. Reviews seems to be good enough and it can also test the alternator apparently.

Convenience, mostly. Not having to understand what the values you're getting from the multimeter mean. But you could work out aspects of the batteries condition with a multimeter.

I have one of these (from HF) and also a load tester. This is not a load tester.

I guess US batteries do not list the Amp hour rating.

Your post is timely in my instance. I have a similar model that I received free from a review that I did on Amazon. I went to test my battery with it yesterday and the second screen asks for an AH rating. Yeah, can't find that on my battery and getting that number appears to be a somewhat involved process, and like you mentioned, can vary greatly.

It seems that "most" car batteries are between 48-60 AH, but that doesn't help with testing my battery...LOL.
