I just tried this and the rep said: I check and see the device is not eligible to unlock the device under the line was not active for 60 days, it is showing up as less than 60 days. I don't have another unlocked device sitting around..
Maybe try another rep. ATT policy does say you have to wait but not active https://www.att.com/support/artic...KM1262649/ so technically you should be able to submit an unlock request after 60 days even if the line is cancelled but I'm not sure if anyone verified that works.

Is there reason you are want to run those ROMs? Samsung's one UI is now a lot better and has blessings from google.

I will try but I think they're going to say the same thing. Was my mistake when adding the line instead of porting the unlocked GV number that I had available I took the number they provided? I"m not clear on what is supposed to generate the unlocking, is it the porting or the switching of sims onto another phone? Just trying to understand the process better as I try different things, don't want to give up yet.

At this point, if I'm not overly concerned with unlocking, can I cancel the line, get the activation fees waved, not be hit with a new contract, and keep the phone? (That way I could consider the unlocking later after 60 days of having the phone without it being under contract.) Otherwise I might just return it

A heads up: If you abuse buying discounted phones and activating then immediately canceling AT&T service too often, you will eventually be banned by AT&T from activating service anymore.

Believe it or not, that type of gaming is tracked and no one will be able to fix that for you.

Ex-AT&T employee.

PS: If you don't care, that's fine. But If you do, then you should be aware of this and pick your deals carefully.
Good. I freaking hate at&t anyways. The few times I gave actually tried to use their service is AWFUL experience.

I do these deals with adding a new line on an existing ATT number getting a new number. Than I cancel the line after unlocking so you were not doing it wrong. The SIM swap method first makes the phone registered on the network and then makes the system think it's not associated with a newly created account. For you it seems like it still thinks the S23 is associated with the new line.

You can cancel the line and you can get fees voided when ATT sends you the bill (see the wiki) but cancelling the line puts it in a situation where you might get an error back from unlock that the account was cancelled within 14 days and this is a tricky situation to get out.

I'd suggest putting the SIM of the existing ATT account in S23 and make calls/text to make sure it's associated with that account and then chat to get the unlock code.

Yes, you should be able to use it on ATT MVNO without unlocking.

I meant without*. MVNO (Mobile Virtual network operators) are those servie providers who dont have their own network, instead relies on others to provide it e.g. cricket on ATT

I am in the same boat as you. The unlock process was denied several times for me, and the support rep was no help. He just kept citing the 60 day policy. I have not cancelled my new ATT service yet, but I was going to do so tomorrow.

The instruction worked. I successfully unlocked and cancelled the line. The rep via chat ensured that there will be no activation fee, but she said about $10 with including prorated plan cost, fees, etc will be charged. The rep said full plan cost will be charged if cancels after 3 days, so please make sure to cancel it within 3 days. Thank you OP!

Hey thanks. so I gave up on doing the porting thing (wouldn't get past the first screen to ask for account/pin anyway), and just put the original sim with the new number back into the s23. I tried with another rep on chat, and pointed out under my att it shows the device as unlock eligible. he said he unlocked it, and I asked how I can check it. He said wait, oh you're going to get a notice in 24 hours with the code to unlock. I said how am I getting it, he said text. I asked for confirmation but he said use this chat ID as proof. What are the odds I get the unlock text with code to unlock and this was legit or that there is still someone else deciding in the loop?

do you mean putting the SIM that was shipped with the phone or the sim from another phone on the account?

I have never got the code from CS, I have always used the website. But I thought they either give you the code right away or you use the system which is instantaneous. The system does send you an email to verify the unlock request which expires in 24 hours. I'm not sure about getting unlock code by text in 24 hours. You should be able to get one right away if they have agreed to give you unlock code.
