My CS74 just shipped, I would note that the configs seem a bit confusing and I think the descriptions are wrong.

Edit: The descriptions were updated after this post. Both are white, the cheaper one with aniMe Matrix was the same spec as the other one, it went OOS but then they dropped the second one's price.

The CS74 unit has an RX 6800s, and a 6800hs, I'm a bit intrigued however as there are subtle details in the description that don't line up so it will be fun to see what shows up:

1. The cheaper unit seems to be Gray in color, not white, the gray is mentioned with the AniMe Matrix display….but then again the description is all messed up.

2. I don't believe it is 8 vs 16GB here. The description quotes the 8GB but the specs quote 8GB soldered and an 8GB SODIMM. I don't believe the G14 2022 was ever sold with 8GB of ram. That almost doesn't make sense at all, this unit has the higher end display and GPU, heck the GPU has 8GB of VRAM, did I Mention it says it has DDR6 system memory?!

The HP is a VERY good value and deal on a near-perfect portable computer, the display is incredible and the CPU is faster than this asus and more efficient. It is also much thinner than this...however...
If your goal is mostly gaming/video/photo-editing or any AAA games, the ASUS is the answer, it is much much much faster in gaming and gaming only. The Asus is also far more upgradable.

Don't expect any asus updates. Asus policy is to provide 1st year update only. I been using amd drivers on this.

Ah, that's worth keeping in keeping in mind then. I'd never bought directly from Asus, and didn't want to be slapped with a restocking fee.

The only difference between them in the comparison is that the more expensive model does not mention having the AniMe Matrix Display:

You can also confirm this in the size and weight, the matrix display adds thickness.

I'm super unsure as to why ASUS thinks the second one should be more expensive. Might just be weird differences in prices just happening.

Awesome deal, I have the 6700s version of this that I paid 579 openbox fair on bestbuy and it's a great laptop. 699 for brand new and the 6800s(the lowest price so far had been 1199 for this) seems ki0nda crazy to me.

This seems like a lot of laptop for the price. Just consider the g14 2023 with 4060 can be had at around 850 open box at Best Buy. Both seem to have their merits, decisions, decisions.

8gb is soldered iirc, so max u can do is 24gb with 8+16 setup. i think in the 2024 variant, it has 2 slots
