Disagree. It is true that these are not for people who need to use the on a regular basis. But they've saved my but a few times and I've helped others. I don't know specifically this brand but these in general are perfect for most people for emergencies.

I have one identical to this (Trekpow G22 1500A Peak Car Jump Starter) Everything is identical , even the case. Bought in 2019 ($65 worth every penny) still works like new, starts a completely dead vehicle. I am getting this sweet deal as a back up. If I could get two at this price I would

I would love to buy this but the extreme AZ heat is on the way. I'd worry with a big LiIon battery pack sitting in the trunk, over the gas tank. OTOH: I've stored an 1850-powered flashlight in the glovebox for years without issues. But there are some cheap, dangerous batteries out there. Any idea of safety certifications for this model?

I bought that exact model in 2012 & its still going strong. The trick is to charge it every couple months & don't let it die

And to charge after every use.

My last three over ten years, the batteries has swelled up. Different brands. Anything I can do differently to make them last? Or is this the life expectancy? This is in mississippi with high humidity.

Check out the Project Farm testing for 2023. The NOCO AND Gooloo come out on top. I ended up buying a one Step Down Gooloo, from the one they tested, for my wife's car.

I bought the Vtoman for myself because I wanted a pump, and my wife already had a separate one.

I had a cheap one like this in the past and it had high self discharge and was never ready when I needed it. This one has decent Amazon review though, so if you only want to spend $30, might be worth a try.
I went with the Gooloo GP4000 based on his videos.

I originally started with a Type-S from Costco, and that thing was complete junk. Any time a battery was low it would just freak out and start beeping due to "Battery protection". You know, the exact situation you are trying to avoid by having a jumper. Worse than having no jump box at all, because it gets your hopes up before crushing you.

The Gooloo doesn't seem to care if a battery is very low. I use these pretty regularly because I'm the neighborhood's involuntary mechanic, and the new one cranks cars over faster than even having jumper cables on them. Pretty impressive.

If you're serious about the utility of these, go ahead and spend a little more for a genuinely powerful unit. The extra amperage will get yourself and friends out of trouble when you most need it. I paid $90 for the Gooloo with a coupon.

Had one like this, lost it's juice after two months.

After you're disappointed with it, get one of these, it'll last for years:

The lead acid are trash. They dont last more than 3 yrs. Need constant babying. Are a one trick pony cant do much else. Get something like this. I have a decade old pack we use daily and it still jumps my cars.

Completely agree. The normal person needs it about 1-2 a year. I had a lead acid one. It was expensive, heavy and failed me when I needed it most. I have a Lion now and it hasn't failed me in over 5 years.

Same experience -- Mine has sat in the trunk for over a year, still had "full bars" for battery life, quickly jump-started a car with a dead battery (repeatedly -- about 10 times over a few days) until I could get the battery replaced (Dodge makes you remove the wheel & wheelwell cover to get to the battery, making it incredibly inconvenient). Highly recommended and super easy to use. Would absolutely buy again.

can this work as a regular jumper cable without the battery (just in case the batteries run out)? I only see one pare of negative & positive ends, so seems not?

These things are great if you can be responsible enough to charge it every oil change.

I will use mine as a portable battery pack for phone charging when someone inevitably forgets to charge their phone while we drive.

The one I have has a flashlight on it, so it's super useful.

These things will start a V8, no problem. You just can't have a battery that is completely dead.

Keep in mind that this is a jump starter, not a necromancer.

Dang, I was just about to order this and the code and coupon have vanished in the time I took to order (which was a while, but still I thought I would be ok). Dang.

These are a joke little gadget junk as they won't last. Do you ever see auto shops with these? . Throwing money down the toilet. The real Jump starters are the lead acid battery pack type which may cost more but they'll last for years. I had a Home Depot husky unit and I recall paying $30 for it on sale which lasted almost 8 years before it would not hold a charge. Jump starter prices have shot up like auto batteries.
Completely different markets. That's like saying an instant pot isn't good for a chef in a restaurant kitchen. Of course a mechanic isn't going to use this, but for a home user, this works great. I have one of these in each of my cars, they work like a charm and I still carry jumper cables, just in case.

I've owned two gooloo models over the past several years. The first one I bought 6 years ago and it held up ok. The case started to swell indicating a bad battery after four years but it still held a good charge. No compliants for $40 at the time. The second gooloo I bought was the GP80 about three years ago when it was $30 - that one started to swell badly after one year and hardly would hold a charge.

So I switched to NOCO based on my mechanic's advice to see if that brands holds up better.
