Note: While this will now be the standard T-Mobile Connect plan at this price tier, due to overwhelmingly positive feedback and high interest from the community in the new upgrade from 3.5GB to 5GB of data monthly (previously announced as a jump to only 4GB), we have promoted this offer to the Frontpage for light data/mostly-WiFi users to consider.
T-Mobile offers their T-Mobile Connect Prepaid Wireless Service Plan w/ Unlimited Talk & Text + 5GB Data for $15/month (plus taxes & fees). Purchase of a SIM Card Starter Kit for $10 (one-time cost) may also be required.
Thanks to community member picframe for finding this deal.

Unlimited domestic talk & text
5GB of data per month (domestic)
100MB domestic roaming data

Notice my $15 plan up from 3.5GB to 5.0GB this March. ( it was supposed to be extra 500MB a year til 2025 ) Other than that, same old Global Wifi-calling, ESIM support, unlimited voice/msg.. nothing more......
If you dont feel like paying big chunk at once, this is not a bad deal. Plus, you can change plan on the fly ( such I go down to $10 before I travel oversea or switch to $25 plan for my summer outdoor activities - all via website without talking to CSR )

It's a hard cap. But you can easily top it up, if needed. For example, top up by $5 gives you an additional 2GB.
I have been on T-Mobile connect for the last 1 year and it has been great for me.

What's wrong? Prepaid is listed in QCI 6. Connect is included in prepaid. Essentials is a different product. Also corroborated by this post[reddit.com].
It'd be nice to have basic internet access in congested areas like stadiums and festivals, even as a low data user..
I don't know if the connect plan is deprioritized or not, but I can say that I used to get abysmal data speed when in stadiums or similar crowded areas, many times I'd be unable to even load a simple webpage. It was worse than my previous service (metro). Before jumping back in, I'd love to know what others have experienced with the connect plan.
Edit: I should add that outside of crowded areas, the connect service was pretty good. Would still recommend.
T-mobile was supposedly replacing the $10 pre-paid sim starter kit with a $25 Device Connection Charge beginning 3/21/24, but it looks like that hasn't been implemented yet online.
are we really worried about data priority with 5gb data to use for the month?
I don't get why using less data would mean you don't care about getting good speed. Like, if I'm only using a little bit, the bit that I do use I want to not be waiting around.

My understanding is first party T-Mobile prepaid is higher priority than all other MVNOs, including Mint and US Mobile.
You are correct!
Tmobile Connect use same APN / MMSC access as regular Tmobile prepaid/ Business, such
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
MMSC: mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Other MVNO carriers such as Mint / USMobile will be using generic APN name such as "Wholesale" or "PWG" with MMSC that contain words "MVNO" such xxxx.mmsmvno.com/
