Having colors at all increases the cost of the whole line - the cheapest option for MS would be just to make them all black. It's not a matter of just mixing in some dye - the different colors may mold differently as well and that has to be accounted for. Also, volume on the special colors will be way lower than on the white and black models and that makes them cost more too.

Waited a couple years for this one and picked it up at this price on black Friday.

I am definitely biased because I love the hues of this color already, but I've been waiting for years for my old X1 Controller from 2013 to give out, so I could find an excuse to buy this one. ... well, I forgot what the reason was, but I have use this controller now. It's beautiful.

I got stick drift with this exact controller 1 week before the 90 day warranty was up! Make sure you buy the 2/3yr warranty with it!

I am told that I need to get a controller for my PC because gameplay is better on a few games, I don't need a pretty color so not sure if there is more to it. Sounds like it is just the color.

Came here to say the same seems to be an issue across the newer controllers. Not the first one to do this to me but it only took 4 months this time. It's extremely obvious when using the steam joystick calibraron test.

Speaking of tests, I've had nothing but problems with Series controllers missing button presses. Particularly the Y button. One was so bad it missed 1/3 of presses. It's very obvious when you do the button test through the xbox app and can see them not registering.

Never had that problem (or it wasn't noticeable) with Xbox One controllers but those are almost impossible to find new anymore. :/

There is rumor of a totally new Xbox controller coming as soon as next month, with PS5-style haptics and a rechargeable battery as standard.

I don't know if I'd buy any controller right now unless you need one, just in case the rumor is true.
