A lot of restaurants do not upcharge for pickup. If you have DashPass from a Chase credit card and order pickup with these gift cards, it is essentially saving 15+ percent for regular takeout.
How it works
1. Save this offer
2. Shop at your favorite online stores and use PayPal to check out
3. Make 3 purchases of $50 or more
4. Redeem 600 points for $6 cash back or other options
More need-to-knows
100 points = $1.00 when redeemed for cash back

At least some of your order has to be paid for with your dash pass credit card to get the benefits.
Pass.
This is 100% false.

The dash pass benefit is only lost if you select another card (or Apple Pay) as the payment method. You redeem a gift card and it is added to your DoorDash credit balance. DoorDash credits can come from different sources (e.g. a refund from customer service, a reward/promo) and do not invalidate dash pass benefits.
Heads up though, DD didn't refund me for an undelivered order for the first time ever once I had a gift card balance. I am assuming they knew I couldn't charge back the order since it wasn't paid for by credit card.
Never buying another gc and paying by cc from now on.
I ended up contacting the BBB, and DD refunded me there.
It's pure convenience cost. DoorDash is an easy to use platform with all my favorites and I have dashpass from Chase for free. I am happy to pay extra to have someone get the food for me, lots of my local options are only available thru apps too and I don't often have the time or energy to pickup. As a parent with small children, having a night or two a week where I don't need to worry about picking up food let alone the alternative of cooking, cleanup, and dishes afterwards is a worth the cost for us.
Also, in my experience the upcharge item costs just isn't there like the rest of this site often comments on, at least that's in my area.
