Saw few deals that were either required a scavenger hunt or ridiculous price, this one is great price. Good brand with one USB C and one USB A charging

There was a deal last week for the lower powered ones of these outlets. This seems to be a good deal. Also, they have the usb-c 2 outlet device on Amazon for $20 currently.

Don't waste your time with these gimmicky USB built in outlets. You're much better off installing a normal $2 outlet and plugging in a surge protector with built in USB if that's your style. Just think how often USB specs change and USB chargers fail or wear out...do you really want to rewire your outlets every time anything goes wrong or a new charging standard comes out? Plus the tight spacing means for most devices you can use the USB outlet or the plug but not both...you know, the same as if you just plug in any old cheap USB power supply and unplug it when you need to plug in something else.

Saying USB standards change all the time and then saying instead "use any old cheap USB power supply" in back to back sentences is really weird contradictory criticisms.

The use of this type of device is not going to be heavily influenced by changing USB standards, especially not the pace they change at. This is a niche product targeted a very specific type of USB device charging (small electronic device charging) that offers decluttering as a perk. If that's not your target then don't get this.

I fail to see the contradiction. I listed 3 different reasons why one my need to replace a USB charger, you take issue with one of those reasons. The fact remains that if you should need to replace the charging portion of this adapter for any reason you're stuck replacing the whole outlet.

For somebody that has no problem doing it themselves this may be a small matter and they may find the slight convenience this provides to be worth it. However, there's people out there that will be paying somebody to install this because they're afraid of the spicier bits in the wall. If they're going that route they should understand that this won't have the same service life as just keeping a standard outlet and buying a better plug in adapter.

Most likely not. They have to dissipate a lot of heat when converting down from 110 (or 220) volt at 90W. Being in such a small enclosure (gang box) without any ventilation they may literally melt and start fire.

This is the answer! Modern power conversion is limited by touch safe power dissipation.

They don't dissipate 90W, they deliver 90W. The amount of power dissipated depends on efficiency.

Lots of whiners about tamper proof outlets.

1. Really? Is it that hard for you? Then perhaps you have bigger problems.
2. They prevent a few child deaths per year, which is nice for most people, but if you have a problem with that...
Wait until you get to the age/condition where your fingers are affected by osteoarthritis

I guess, I didn't explain this correctly. There is no ideal (100%) efficiency in the voltage conversion. Shortly speaking, during such conversion, most of the losses are transferred to heat. More power (wattage) you drain - more losses (heat) you get, which requires better cooling (or better efficiency). There is no cooling inside of the gang boxes, so you are at risk of getting high temperatures, that may cause melting and/or fire. In other words, your adapter may be slightly warm when you drain 15W, but will be really hot when you drain 90W (6x15W). Just check the temperature of your laptop power adapter when it's idle and compare it to when it's loaded on CPU and GPU.
