If you're purchasing them in-store at Walmart (which is what this deal refers to), I'd confidently say they've done their due diligence to ensure safety. If you look at the photo of the inside of the glasses, they clearly show the ISO Certification.
Likely, one of the main reasons they're exclusively selling them in-store is to avoid confusion and prevent customers from inadvertently purchasing counterfeit products from third-party online sources.

I'm pleased to see people exercising caution when it comes to purchasing potential counterfeit solar eclipse glasses. There are countless unsafe options online that could seriously harm someone's eyes.
However, in this instance, as long as you're not buying them from a third-party seller, everything should be in order. Walmart is the biggest company in the world, they know retail, they know products, they wouldn't risk a lawsuit selling an unsafe solar eclipse viewer in their store.

Comfort

You obviously didn't get a free iPhone 13 mini from Walmart like I did or you wouldn't be so sure!

Remember back in 2017 eclipse when they had limited supply on these and prices were high? Glad this time these glasses are fairly priced!

Admin, I would request that this be removed from the front page. If we don't know for sure that these glasses are safe, it's irresponsible to broadcast this sale so broadly.

You aren't required to throw the glasses away. You can use them for multiple eclipses. They don't have to be made out of titanium. You will only use them for a couple of hours each time.
Not true. They degrade and have an expiration date. Never use old ones

Good luck with that. They are no longer safe because the plastic degrades but you save a few cents and risk your eyesight. Wow

should we trust these to not practically blind us?

as much as i'd like to see the solar eclipse, i'm more worried about permanent eye damage from all these cheapo glasses out there. risk vs reward is not there for me.

Just a word of advice, if it hurts your eyes stop looking at the sun. Hbh...how many millions of kids stared into the sun and went blind?

You might be more worried about going blind by jerking too much

Define "old." I got my NASA glasses. I only read a bit of the writing. I haven't read the rest.

Plenty of damage happens with zero pain. Google it.
