We're much closer to green batteries than we are to "green" hydrogen from natural gas.
We have Green Hydrogen produced through electrolysis. California hydrogen strains are about 90% fully renewable. Europe and China have hundreds of Hydrogen stations, also largely using renewable hydrogen.
We're not 'waiting for them to make green hydrogen' we're just waiting for it to be scaled. If the world wasn't EV crazy (let's be real, Tesla's are awesome) we'd be further along on the Hydrogen rollout.
Even hydrogen isn't really great though, look at Toyotas recent statement on being green friendly.
The lithium for one EV which saves about 3.7 tons of CO2. Take that same lithium and put it into hybrid cars (90 hybrid cars from the same lithium as one BEV) and you save 90 tons CO2. Those buying EVs to 'save the planet are fooling themselves. Until we can scale lithium production. Far beyond where it is tdpday we'll be better off with hybrids.
There is a huge community of people who keep updates of old technology going. Any chance they hop on this? I suppose they would need to figure out how to 'jailbreak' (not the right word, but gets the point across) the firmware first.
WTH? Would you even trust a car that has a custom firmware in it? Especially on an EV?
LOL, Waiting for the rest to follow suit so the industry can focus on advanced Hybrid and Hydrogen tech. This Battery tech is a few decades away if that. They need to find a replacement for strip mining in Africa to make these "GREEN" car batteries.

The minute every country basically said they were going to relax the timelines on EV adoption and mandates for automakers, Mercedes and other companies could not wait to pull back and start focusing more on ICE cars. That said everything. Like I said, take away the tax credits and start charing EV owners a road tax too and let's see how sales really go. My business partner had a Mach E, it was nice, not a bad vehicle until he barely made it up here one day in the winter and he had to find a charger and I had to pick him up. Got rid of it shortly after and went back to gas. My impressions of the Mach E, great acceleration, very comfortable seats, meh styling, can't tow shit, like at all, and price way too high. One of my neighbor's is a retired auto exec, I was talking to his wife a few days ago who is on her third EV and she even said they would never have EVs as their only cars, He has a gas pickup truck and she drives the EV around town. One house, Model S, Model 3, Toyota Sienna, another Model Y, Honda Pilot, another house Ford Lightning, Audi Q7, another Blazer EV, GMC Denali. 4 houses out of 100 that have EVs and none 100% EVs.
EV subsidies did help the adoption but that is how a new industry is born, the government has to step in and help an industry in infancy whether it is manufacturing, tech, pharmacy or energy.
I would argue millions of subsidies to oil companies, billions spent in the Iraq war, thousands of innocents killed in the Middle East over the past 50 years, the US tolerating Saudi Arabia's social injustice etc... all for Oil. Isn't?
These failures will be like 50's era Chevies in Cuba where you have to whittle your own carburetor,................. except less desirable and reliable.
The only newer and up and coming car company besides Tesla (which after 15 years is probably not considered new anymore) that I would even feel comfortable with after sales support in 5 years would be POLESTAR. Yes, it is more or less an offshoot of Volvo...but their vehicles are different enough now...not just rebranded VOLVOs and their parent company is large enough to survive this and I believe if they do go under...VOLVO will take care of POLESTAR customers, without question.
Hydrogen is literally the stupidest technology in existence when it comes to renewable vehicles, thanks for basically showing you don't know what you're talking about.
Think about this, if you own an EV with an average sized battery, say 80kwh, and chose to charge at the most expensive DC charger station charging $.50/kwh, you may pay $40 even accounting for charging loses.
Here in CA, hydrogen is about $35/kg. To fill something like the mirari it will cost about $190.
And consider the range for the Toyota mirari and say a model y/Mach E are about the same 250-260 real world miles.
In what world would a consumer suggest paying $190 vs 40?
