Just a heads up that this does not include a pico remote
FYI, Walmart has several Lutron items marked down as "Clearance" including this item which is why Amazon is probably matching.

Walmart also has the official Lutron repeater box which has 60 feet of range compared to 30 feet with the hub and this dimmer.

I rarely ever see this thing go on sale, and it's currently $51.xx
I bought it instead. Can be powered by a USB cable too.

These also have the benefit of being a range extender for the Lutron signal.

Can someone clarify for me? If I currently have four caseta switches and a Lutron hub, does the range of my network become the zone wherein additional caseta switches will work? Or do they have to be in range of the actual Lutron hub, regardless of my mesh network coverage?
Lutron devices connect to Lutron's hub, not your WiFi network. Extending your WiFi network has no impact on Lutron device coverage, as the Lutrons connect to the Lutron hub. I believe the Lutron hub has a limit of 75 devices.

I didn't know one could access an API by any means with the non-pro hub. Maybe something /did/ change. Do you have a link that describes what you did? Maybe Lutron had to loosen up to compete. I am genuinely curious as I have a non-pro hub at my folks' house and assumed I couldn't do anything exogenous to it.

Thanks!
Indeed the non pro hub has a Local Push API that works with Home Assistant (and the py lutron lib)

Or, take your favorite wall switch (Kasa Dimmer?), a Surface Mount box https://a.co/d/dat4teB a face plate, split an extension cord and make a better device.

I have to table lamps on either side of the TV, the switch sits next to one of the lamps. Works as expected.

I have a few lutron switches around the house, but with smart bulbs available, is there a use case that is more useful with these lutron dimmers?
I use them for lamps on the nightstands in the bedrooms, but it's mainly because I'm already in the Caseta ecosystem with Diva and Claro switches installed in pretty much every room. I have a Pico remote on each nightstand and think it's easier to turn on and off the lights using the remotes rather than reaching for the lamp or using an app.

I also use a Caseta dimmer for my Christmas tree lights. Even if you don't have Caseta installed anywhere else in your house, you can still pair a Pico remote to the dimmer and light/dim the tree without having to get up.

As I understand it, these will act much like a WiFi extender so devices can connect to the lamp module if too far from the hub. So yes, it extends the range for switches that are too far from the hub.

Would cost more to get a casetta wall switch (by far favorite) and make a custom plug than to just buy this for less and less risky for most home owners electrical skills.

Thanks OP, looks like the white Pico is also on sale individually as well as packaged with this dimmer.

Not a fan of Kasa - a waste of WiFi on a device that doesn't need that kind of connectivity (this applies to all of these WiFi based smart devices). What I really like about Lutron (and Zigbee and Z-Wave) is that they don't occupy IP space on your router. They are n independent network.

Building some solution like this is pretty dicey too, likely beyond 90% of home owners.

The dumbest part of the Caseta line is that this cannot be slaved to mirror another dimmer. You can control it with a Pico, but not another dimmer.

My scenario is i have a dimmer on the wall which controls a wall outlet. On the opposite wall, i want to have this mirror whatever brightness the main control is set. It's dumb to have a pico on the wall right next to the functional dimmer just to accomplish this.

There are ways around this with smartthings, HA, etc… but shouldn't be necessary, just to sync to physical dimmers.

I was going to buy the range extender, so this will work the same way at much less price?

If you have an Echo (Alexa) nearby, you can use it to turn lamp on or off.

I don't have an Echo or Alexa at all, let alone nearby.

Maybe one day.
