Walmart also has the official Lutron repeater box which has 60 feet of range compared to 30 feet with the hub and this dimmer.
I rarely ever see this thing go on sale, and it's currently $51.xx
I bought it instead. Can be powered by a USB cable too.

I have to table lamps on either side of the TV, the switch sits next to one of the lamps. Works as expected.
I also use a Caseta dimmer for my Christmas tree lights. Even if you don't have Caseta installed anywhere else in your house, you can still pair a Pico remote to the dimmer and light/dim the tree without having to get up.
As I understand it, these will act much like a WiFi extender so devices can connect to the lamp module if too far from the hub. So yes, it extends the range for switches that are too far from the hub.

Would cost more to get a casetta wall switch (by far favorite) and make a custom plug than to just buy this for less and less risky for most home owners electrical skills.

Building some solution like this is pretty dicey too, likely beyond 90% of home owners.
My scenario is i have a dimmer on the wall which controls a wall outlet. On the opposite wall, i want to have this mirror whatever brightness the main control is set. It's dumb to have a pico on the wall right next to the functional dimmer just to accomplish this.
There are ways around this with smartthings, HA, etc… but shouldn't be necessary, just to sync to physical dimmers.
I was going to buy the range extender, so this will work the same way at much less price?

Maybe one day.
