Disneyland Magic Key annual passes sold out on January 10, 2024, with some passes selling out in as little as nine hours. Disneyland stopped selling new passes to protect the experience for Magic Key holders and the value of their passes. However, all passes are still available to renew. That's from Google. The cheapest pass sold out in a matter of hours, but the other three more expensive passes are still available for renewal.

"The Imagine Key, available only to Southern California residents, sold out at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, the Orange County Register reported. Magic Keys went on sale at 9 a.m. on the same day."

If you've gone to DL this week, you will know that you can UPGRADE your ticket to a magic key, applying what you pay for the one-day/multi-ticket to the magic key.

this photo was just taken this week....i can tell you exactly where to find this sign (if you are there and you wanna see for yourself)

Most people that live in Socal have the season passes. Now that they charge almost $800 a night for a hotel room on property, you'd think that they would give people a discount on tickets. Those Florida ticket deals posted on here a few days ago where it was like $74 a park per day for four days, was for everybody. Even people that don't live in Florida. It's also weird that these can only be used during the week, because the Florida equivalent to this ticket can be used any day of the week. I guess Walt Disney World must be really hurting for guests right now. They even got rid of needing a reservation to get into the Florida parks. Which I wish that the Anaheim parks would do, because even if you buy a ticket, there is no guarantee that you will actually be let into the park.
Disneyland is 85 acres.
Walt Disney World is 30,000 acres.
"Florida equivalent" - These two numbers are not equal.
Comparing them is called stupid math.
WDW can handle way more people.

Thanks for your response earlier. I live in NorCal. So there is no point in upgrading my ticket to a magic key pass(using this option), since it can be used only by the SoCal residents right?

the sign i just posted is not limited to so cal residents. it's for everyone with an option to upgrade. i think at this point, it's only opened in-park with a valid ticket. be sure you do this before your ticket expires (i.e. no later than the last day your ticket is valid for).

Thanks. May I ask you if this kind of upgrade options are available always? I am planning to visit during mid April, wondering if this offer will last till then 🙂

you need to show your government issued ID at the main gate.
A basic doubt. What happens when a person takes his friend who is visiting him. Does he have to pay full price for his friend?

Correct, but it didn't bother them before covid. Also, universal studios Hollywood waaaay smaller and doesn't have any reservation requirements. I've had the most expensive pass for few years before covid and it was great. Reservation is killing it for me and my family. Also, i noticed that both parks are almost always available for one day tickets but might not be available for any pass.

I highly doubt this. SoCal has population of approximately 20 million. Most means more than half, so are you suggesting 11 million Southern Californians have season pass? I doubt if they want to sell such high numbers to SoCal residents only. Also looking at their annual report, their 2023 revenue was $89 billion, of which $32 billion came from 'Disney Experience', which includes worldwide theme parks, hotel, vacation club, cruise, etc, given average pass price is over $1k, what you are suggesting is about $11 billion of $32 billion came from just season pass to social residence in Disneyland in Anaheim?

Friend of mine had that happen. Girlfriend from Las Vegas had to pay full price because she didn't have a CA address on ID
