It only came out 1986 so he wasn't late at all. Theres many popular fragrances that are over ten years old right now

Not the same formula. Modern fragrances have more phthalates, benzenes, & synthetic ingredients that mimic the scents of popular essential oils uses for centuries.
You missed the point. Someone was talking about how old Obsession is and it's quite young compared to other scents out there. And I'll take your word that it doesn't smell the same, I wasn't around then to smell it. However I like it today regardless of the formula.
If you are letting popular culture dictate your choices, then you are letting others be your master and missing out on some great things in life.
