FYI ...unlike other Android phones and iPhone, Pixel phone does not mirror its screen display to an external monitor ot TV using an HDMI to USB-C cable / HUB or Elgato HD 60S

I traded in my P7P (which AT&T gave me $800 when google would give $215) for S24 ultra and its not even close. If you can get over or hide the samsung bloat (I use Nova) it is vastly faster, the battery works, and whats most important the SIGNAL works. The P7P signal gave me connectivity issues I had 10 years ago it is really THAT bad.

Also the photo editing software and "Leo" (AI) are all sorta rebranded Google apps for free so I also dumped Google One. I am trying to degoogle 100% the only remnant left is the Google Netst Hubs so I have to keep some photos around but am comfortably below 17GB now.

I have mine from the Mint deal. Only real bad thing is it constantly loses service even in good areas. The 5g disappears and you get an E instead. Have to toggle airplane mode on and off to fix. Is this normal on Pixels?

Don't do it guys. Am user. I despise this phone more than any phone I've had for the past 10 years. Been a Project Fi guy since the early days. The touchscreen is so finicky. Constantly registers clicks when you're just holding the phone. It's really trash and I'm just waiting for the right time to move to the next version.

I also got mine from Mint, and it has the same issue. It would randomly lose connection, and I have to turn off and on the sim to reconnect.

The most recent update seems to have fixed the issue a little bit. Since the update about one week ago, the phone has lost connection only once.

Why didn't you just RMA it? That's not normal.

I had a P7P that did this and I turned on the press to hold to be a slightly longer duration, which helped. The screen later started glitching out, so I did end up RMAing it. Don't think I had issues with the new one.

I traded it in for a P8P.

My P7P got its screen smashed by a careless coat checker. I miss it!
Did it have case and screen protector? Mine did and still smashed screen because of the bevel. I'll still be paying for it for a couple more years and can't even use it

You're gonna have to wait a year to see an 8 pro at this price
Unless you do a trade in and can live with 128 Gb storage. I was able to get an 8 Pro for 800 - 300 trade in for my old 6 Pro.

If you're looking for this storage size, agree it's going to be a while.

This, or the normal 8 for $100 less from Mint? (I already have Mint so the carrier isn't an issue for me, personally.)

It's a deal sure, but then you'd be stuck with a pixel. I started my career in tech in an electronics repair shop. I delt with the first generation iphones and all the androids that came after. I've had a huge array of phones over the last 13+ years.

I got this phone in November 2023 and I have to say this phone is single handedly the worst phone I've ever owned. I have a bunch of little gripes for example there's no LED status light, it's not very intuitive to adjust it's quirky settings like an alarm reminder of an upcoming alarm 2 hours before it's going to go off... but the main reason is because of Google photos + camera. This is supposed to be the go to phone because of it's picture/camera quality but it's crap. There is no auto flash, you either have night sight on or manually pull up the settings and change it to flash on. there's no quick function in the GUI to cycle through the different settings with a quick press or swipe like most phones.

The second is photos. I've never been pushed by a phone to buy a photo book. It's a pop up that comes on every time i want to just browse my pictures. You need to DIG to find the setting to turn it off. Something basic like flipping a photo horizontally doesn't exist. Then my biggest issue with it is the auto sync of the photos. I turned it off, but you keep getting a popup to turn it on. After a software update it default it to on, sync'd it and then the advertisements for upgrading the cloud storage with a discount started. It's my fault though. I shouldn't have signed into my google account I guess...

TL;DR As the go to tech person for a lot of people I would not suggest this phone to anyone. If you're desperate to get a higher end phone and are strapped for cash get last years model of any other phone. I cannot even give this away to my mother-in-law knowing how difficult it would be for her to use.
lol what are you talking about. Pixel phones are great.

FWIW, I have a Pixel 7 non-pro and really like it. No complaints.

I second this - same here. It only seems like the very-techy people are finding faults with it, or people who need to RMA them. At $500 this is a great phone deal for the price.

Ah the "go to tech person for many" LMAO

You got bothered by the prompt to sync photos?

I have used Google Photos for years never had this bother me.. that's like complaining about the door open chime in a car. U close the door or simply deal with it
