It's not a good deal. Not even close. This size bag of Oreos is currently on sale for $2.49 at Kroger when you buy three or more.

My father invented the oreo package that opens and reseals - it was called project "arrowhead" because we used to go to sites the soil was recently excavated and find arrowsheads as a kid. Cool to see so many variations over the years

Wow when did a pack of oreos for 4 dollars get to be a good deal?

I didn't agree with what he said either, I like the design
The "design" (which seemed kinda cool at first) is secondary if the implementation has pitfalls (which this does). The primary purpose of any "seal" is to keep the product air tight and fresh....and not just for a few days while you pig out on it! There are air leaks present, no matter how much time you invest lining it up and pressing it with your fingers....and the cookies will eventually get (at least partially) soggy in a relatively short time. Tried and tested (and not just by myself). So on a longer term basis, this packaging isn't that great! The general consensus is the following (quoted from a credible article online)...."Use zip lock baggies or plastic containers to store your Oreos instead of the factory packaging".

1) Where's the connection with finding "arrowheads"?
2) Nothing personal....but that resealable package is the worst! Once you've opened/closed it a few times, it doesn't seal well, air/humidity leaks in, and the cookies become soggy as a result! It was obviously designed only for those who eat the entire package quickly! I always have to place it in a ziploc bag (since it's unhealthy to eat the entire package that quickly).
It works great for at least a week. You got no business buying
Buying Oreos and having them sit around for more than a week! I pity your Oreos.

Practically all cookies, from Nabisco to fancy "artisan" brands have even worst packaging!.

The only debate allowed is whether to dunk them in milk or not!

Designs are made for the majority. Companies spend millions in focus groups, and love or hate it, they do know consumers behavior quite well, down to a science! They definitely saved millions of zip locks. Why design for outliers, and incur higher costs? The average Oreos buyers are families, and you need not only pig out, since among a family, a package of Oreos won't last beyond a week.

Enjoy your Oreos, especially all you gluttons who but them once in a blue moon and go through a sleeve a day!

That's likely the amount that will remain a solid cookie once you receive it from Amazon's exceptional packing and shipping practices! The rest will be oreo cookie crumbs!πŸ™„

How about this novel idea??πŸ’‘ How about, instead of being intentionally programmed by the manufacturer's.... "I'd better eat them fast, now that I opened them, 'cause they're gonna spoil real quick"....how about removing them from the crappy, self-destructing packaging and protecting the flavor and integrity in a SEALED ziploc bag? Crazy idea, right??
That would be a wasted Ziploc bag! It's why I never stock up on Oreos. I buy 1 bag once a year or so. They could be packaged in stainless steel mini vault, and I'd still eat them all with Few days.

Kudos to you for having enough willpower to consume these only once a year or so (really?). I'd get tired of them if I ate them every day, so I space it out. I guess that's just me. BTW, the ziploc bags can be used over and over again (if that's really an issue). I simply place the original package in it. The cookies remain 100% fresh and there are no crumbs left in the ziploc bag.
I realize that you have it down to a science, but someone else here might benefit from my advice (since those resealable packages truly suck!).

It's easy to resist when junk food isn't around. I truly only treat myself once a year to stuff like this. Plus as I get older, the temptation isn't big, it's more nostalgia and treat. While pacing is good habit, I'd rather avoid buying it period, but when I do, go at it like I was a kid!

I only reuse Ziploc for breads or certain frozen items

I like the resealable packaging for my use. It's not perfect, but beats not having it. Plus i don't feel bad throwing it away at much vs some better brands that have excellent resealable packaging. That the problem, some are too good/heavy duty for one use. Never ceases to amaze me how much garbage one home produces.

Looks so good, but then I remember that I lost 60lbs by not eating stuff like this and then I give it the old stink eye. Folks, sugar is a drug don't get hooked.

It's difficult to believe that you eat stuff like this only once a year! That could easily be considered unique!
