This isn't an OLED handheld.

Holy Bernoulli. I'm not into the Z1 non-extreme but at this price it's an insane handheld PC.

I was planning to buy the extreme next time it went on sale. Now I bought this and will buy the ally 2 when it comes out!

For those of you buying the open box excellent, the three free months of game pass nearly cancel out the savings.
Best Buy was only offering 1 month of game pass to me, and since I already stacked 3 years of game pass using the conversion, I'd rather save as much as I can. Shaving $40 off the price makes it an easier impulse buy.

According to my pi hole my Asus, ROG Ally sends out more request than my Roku ultra.
I don't really know what it means but I'm guessing that can't be good.
Right?

$270 with tax for the cheapest open box where I live. I just bought a like new condition Z1 Extreme from a local seller for $350, otherwise would have considered buying the Z1 at this price. Use mine docked as a desktop replacement. It's connected to a 32" 4K monitor, so the additional GPU performance of the Z1 extreme helps.

Going to buy now and think later. Will do some Reddit research and watch some YouTube videos tomorrow.

I had a Steam Deck and it was kind of nice but I wasn't a fan of the trackpads and unfortunately just didn't like the restriction of being on Linux. Valve does a great job with SteamOS but I felt like there were too many games I couldn't play, especially since I like playing gamepass and my EGS collection.
Exactly why I got rid of my Steam Deck last year for my Ally.

The Odin 2 has like a 5-8 hour battery life for GC and Wii U games and is a one stop device for emulation.

The Ally is more powerful but it isn't the best choice for people buying it strictly for emulation.
Care to elaborate why is it not good for emulation? I was thinking buying it over myraids of classic game emulators (Anbernic, Miyoo etc)

Odin 2 still struggles with some PS2, and has no access to Wii U, 360, or PS3. It just depends on what titles someone wants to emulate.

I mean I have an android phone.. we can already use all these emulators with full oled screens, with full support for bluetooth controllers/onscreen controls. These handhelds are lightyears behind real PC gaming. That's how it goes. Never buy 1st gen hardware.. especially not these kind of devices. woot
I would appreciate if you can guide me to some of the reliable emulators. I did purchase Anbernic RG35XX and Miyoo Mini Plus and just couldn't move past couple of days of excitement.

Is it not doing so hot in sales? Why is the price dropping so much within like 9 months of release?

I suspect the Z1 is not doing well compared to the Z1 Extreme due to the much lower GPU performance. One of the biggest reasons to get the Ally over say a Steam Deck is the higher peak performance, so most people interested in the Ally would just go for the Extreme. The Z1 Ally is neither here nor there in terms of battery life and performance. At least with the Z1 Extreme, you are getting the fastest CPU and GPU combination in this form factor at the cost of battery life.

Emulators? Android devices accept all the major emulators of course. I mean what are you trying to play. Most people use their phones.. I know iPhone users do not have have that option, hence all of influx of cheap hardware flooding the market.
