Just a friendly reminder: don't stock too many now because the Mobil 1 summer rebate is coming soon. (Usually they start in June).
This looks like a good price.

I have for years used the Mobil 1 5W30 in all our vehicles... currently two cars and two SUV's.

What makes this any different for trucks and SUV's? Just marketing?
It says "Protection, Performance and Cleanliness". Kind of like a desensitizing condom.

Thanks OP! I've been looking for the Truck & SUV 5W-20 5-Quart and it's available at the same price from Walmart. Also @ Amazon for the same cost.

Good price but what the heck is for truck or suv. Many cars share the same engine as suv or light truck

Family of 4 drivers…. I do all the oil changes … Mobil 1 is my go to- generally it's Willy world or Costco on sale … but this is a great deal! I'm in for 3 and that covers the Silverado for the next 2 …. BTW- I got a FUMOTO valve (look it up) on every vehicle and oil changes are so easy now!

Gonna buy but won't be using untill few months. Any idea if having this sit out in garage will affect the oil?

I have the same 2v 4.6/5.4l ford mod motor in my Crown Vic, Town car, Mustang, E250 van and Expedition. This is marketing. If the additive package in this is "better" for heavy loads and bigger vehicles it would also be equally better for any engine in a smaller car for the same exact reasons. SUV or Truck is a silly meaningless designation. You could argue that conventionally a heavier vehicle has intake and timing components and programing to support higher torque at lower RPM as they ploud along vs a lighter car that really only creates overall power numbers at high RPM but they are also usually smaller engines under equal load proportional to their size anyway. I'm still going with marketing. An example against that though is the Ford 150 with a 3.5l ecoboost or a 5.0l coyote. On paper they are close in numbers but they are completely different engines doing different things to get that power/torque in totally different ways. Which one would benefit more with the mythical "SUV/Truck oil" vs not using that oil.
All that being said, still a good price..

Hmm. 0w-16 never goes on sale.

+1 got a new car using 0W-16 and kinda regretting it. By the end of the day, I rather deal with buying 0W-16 at normal price than deal with engine failure due to lack of maintenance

Trucks and SUVs use more oil so this is the way they can scam out more money.

Could you not just use the 0w20 in this deal? I can't imagine it would make much difference other than giving a slight bit of extra protection with heavier weight. 0w16 is a super light oil trying to boost economy. I would check your owners manual and see what grades are acceptable, as you can likely use many types other than 0w16.

Why does Mobil1 have so many kinds of 0W-20 FS? Are there actual differences or is this just marketing BS?

In my opinion a little bit of both.

This formula likely has a different HTHS ( High Temperature High Shear) which would help with SUVs & trucks typically running at a higher engine temperature. And It has more detergents which would help lessen the buildup of sludge.

That said, the difference is probably negligible so if the price of this "SUV Truck oil" is the same as your go to oil why not? if it cost more I wouldn't bother.
